Swab testing greatly determines daily rate of Covid-19 infections

Kuwait records 3,009,166 tests since start of pandemic

-

KUWAIT CITY, July 3: With the number of swab tests exceeding three million in about a year and a half since the start of the corona pandemic in late February 2020; it has been proven that swab testing significantly contributed to determining the daily rate of infection with Covid-19, those who had direct contact with them and those who were quarantined according to the treatment protocols, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources from the Health Ministry.

So far, Kuwait has recorded 3,009,166 swab tests conducted in more than one site, health facility, quarantine center and others; in addition to random tests carried out by field health teams in a bid to control the epidemic and monitor infections in residential, labor or investment areas. This reflects the teams’ success in identifying sites where there are corona cases and their direct contacts, sources added.

Sources affirmed that efforts will continue beyond the three million mark; especially with the emergence of new strains which may contribute to the expansion of the epidemic, and then increase the rates of clinical work in wards and intensive care.

Sources stressed the importance of cooperating with health teams after swab testing, especially with regard to determining the whereabouts of those who are infected and their direct contacts.
