‘Private sector must help fight virus’

-

KUWAIT CITY, July 4: The Ministry of Health has requested for the assistance of anesthesiologists and intensive care doctors in the private medical sector to deal with repercussions of the corona pandemic that has been going on for a year and a half, taking into consideration the mounting pressure on the health system, reports AlQabas daily.

This came after the daily published a report on Friday with the headline, “The health system is witnessing an unprecedented pressure due to the severe coronavirus outbreak”, considering the rising occupancy rate in the intensive care units designated for covid-19 patients.

Sources from the health sector revealed that the mounting pressure on medical and nursing staff has prompted the ministry to cancel non-emergency operations in public and private medical facilities to ensure that health care provided to all patients is not affected by any obstacles in view of the remarkable increase in the number of covid-19 patients in intensive care units.

Sources stressed the need to continue the implementation of health regulations and to make certain that the entire targeted population take two doses of vaccines approved in the country to avoid serious complications resulting from infection with the virus.

Sources also emphasized the importance of postponing social events until further notice and until the local epidemiological situation improves -- lower number of new corona cases.
