‘Rifts weaken Palestine cause’

- — Compiled by Zaki Taleb

“IN THE wake of the World War II, and the unlimited support that was extended by Britain to establish the Zionist entity in the heart of Palestine, the Kingdom of Egypt in 1946 the monarch Farouk I, hosted the first Arab summit which was attended by the monarchs and presidents of seven Arab states,” columnist Oweid AlSulaili wrote for Al-Shahed daily.

“This summit adopted many resolutions, at the top of which was the Palestinian cause which represented the heart of all Arab national issues. Likewise, the summit called for stopping the Jewish migration to Palestine, terming any policy against Palestine by the United States of America and Britain as an aggressive policy against all Arab League (AL) states.

“But since that time all consecutive Arab summits which happened over 82 years continue to adopt the same phrases in their communiqués related to the Palestinian cause without any action seen on the ground and this can be mostly attributed to the aggravation of the Arab-Arab conflicts and the Arab inability to go beyond these conflicts and pay attention to the fateful issues of the Arabs and this has encouraged Israel and many great powers to ignore the statements of the Arab League.

“In light of the above, we conclude that the Arab-Arab conflicts continue to represent the major factor that impedes the joint Arab action in view of the political and economic differences and the borders problems which sometimes develop into armed conflicts and declared and undeclared wars. This scenario has encouraged many states of the world to poke their noses in the Arab affairs and manipulate their agendas in this part of the world to serve their own interests.

“Anyway, for his part, the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, we pray to Almighty Allah to bestow his mercy upon him, had earlier realized that a crack had appeared in the Arab joint action because the differences between Arabs seemed to deepen and solving these differences needed tremendous efforts and many years.

“Such being the case, the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, had during that time submitted his vision for solving such a complicated problem through the concentration on the economic summits aiming at achieving the economic integration among the Arab states, given the fact that the late Sheikh Sabah was inspired by the European experiment and its successes at economic level because although the EU members remained divided at political level their economic interests unified them and ended their differences.

“When will the Arabs realize that the Arab League is nothing but an organization that brings together various states to discuss the unsolvable issues and issue ineffective statements, while the world is currently forming economic blocs to realize their interests without paying attention to useless statements?

“The local arena recently witnessed arguments both in favor and against the decision of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) not to renew the residence permits of the expatriates of those who reached the age of sixty years and above holding the high school certificate as of Jan 1, 2021,” columnist Mousa Behbehani wrote for Al-Rai daily.

“The decision in question contains a specific mechanism indicating that those to whom this decision is applicable must actually leave the country in accordance to the period that had been given to him/her for staying in the country.

“However, in my own viewpoint, this decision is something against the divine rule allowing the human being to migrate to earn a livelihood and decent standard of living or in search for security and safety in any country other than his/her own country, given the fact that all of these are given by the Almighty Allah.

“Such being the case, the human being reserves the right to shift from one country to another in search of a decent living and this of course, should be realized pursuant to the valid laws that have been enacted by the states which he/she migrated to, given the fact that a migrant will migrate in search of job and eventually stay for a period of time in the new country to earn some money and improve his/her standard of living and then return to his/ her homeland as per the laws of the relevant hosting state.

“Consequently, the decision in question relates to the expatriates in the country is mostly rife with defects, because such a decision will prevent the country to benefit from the skilled manpower and according to this decision, this denomination of people will leave to other countries where the latter shall benefit from their technical expertise.

“In light of the above, we conclude that the expatriates are not the same, as such the relevant process requires the necessary study and eventually encourage and reward the expatriates to invest their funds in the country, hence the decision in question, should be applied on the new foreign manpower, but not on the old ones, given the latter should have more rights than those who came to the country after them.

“Apart from the above, we suggest that the decision should have taken into account that the technical occupations don’t require university degrees, or a specific age, because these occupations and the related skills are acquired through practical work and gained experience in the relevant occupations.”

“1) From 2017 until now, there have been a hundred files of suspected theft of public money or forgery of official papers and documents,“columnist Dr Naji Saoud Al-Zaid wrote for Al-Jarida daily.

“2) This authority has filed 212 cases to recover illegally spent money and it won most of these cases.

“3) Until the end of last year, there are cases filed against the authority in which it won 1,241 judgments and lost 446 of cases filed against it.

“The statistics are official as they are provided by an official and published in newspapers. This is the Public Authority for Disabled Affairs.

“This information indicates the extent to which the humanitarian aspects are exploited to obtain privileges for the disabled, and statistics indicate that some disabled people won cases against the authority.”
