IBS honors Risk Management Leadership Program graduates
KUWAIT CITY, July 4: Under the patronage of the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Banking Studies, Dr. Mohammad AlHashel, the Director-General of the Institute of Banking Studies, Prof. Dr. Yaqoub Alrefaei, honored the graduates of the Risk Management Leaders Program (Group I- 15 participants), which was held from November 11, 2019 until March 18, 2021, during which there was a break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and it is one of the programs of the “Kafaa” initiative. Launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait in cooperation with Kuwaiti banks and the management of the Institute of Banking Studies, the program aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to make appropriate decisions and develop effective strategies in risk management in banks and financial institutions.
The program extended over three non-continuous phases. The first and second phases started in the State of
Kuwait and included training programs and practical lectures in the field of risk management in cooperation with the London Institute of Banking and Finance in the United Kingdom and the “Professional Risk Managers International Association” in the United States of America. The third phase included international training in the United Kingdom with an international company specialized in this field, in addition to an interactive virtual training with a specialized expert for all participants in the program.
“Kafaa” initiative is a comprehensive strategic initiative that aims to build highly qualified national cadres, provide them with the necessary knowledge to advance in their career path, and arm them with the necessary skills for the labor market, in line with what is imposed by the tremendous and continuous progress and development witnessed by the financial and banking industry. The initiative also aims to provide institutions working in this field with competencies capable of occupying advanced ranks in managing major economic, financial and banking institutions.
The Director General of the Institute congratulated the graduates of this program, wishing them a successful career, and urged them to make the most of the practical experiences they gained during their training on this program, and from the professional competence provided by advanced simulation programs, workshops and interactive educational experiences, as well as from field visits to the most important financial institutions.
Professor Alrefaei also thanked His Excellency the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Banking Studies, His Excellency Dr. Mohammad Yousef Al-Hashel, and the members of the Board of Directors of the Institute for their support of this program, as well as the managers of human resources and training in the member banks, for their efforts and follow-up to achieve the success of its convening.
