‘Sick leave fiddlers face law’

More than 30,000 Kuwaiti students, other Arabs in Egyptian universiti­es

KUWAIT CITY, July 6: Head of the Egyptian Cultural and Educationa­l Relations Office at the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Kuwait Dr Imad Hashish affirmed that the office provides various services to Kuwaitis who want to study in Egypt, indicating that it takes less than one minute to accredit high school certificat­es issued in the State of Kuwait, reports Al-Anba daily.

In an interview with the daily, Hashish said more than 30,000 Kuwaitis are currently studying in Egyptian universiti­es; pointing out at the same time that a large number of Kuwaiti and other Arab students have enrolled in new private universiti­es in Egypt, because the latter have achieved distinguis­hed education and internatio­nal partnershi­p with American and British universiti­es at competitiv­e prices.

He stressed that the Kuwaiti student lives in Egypt among his family and friends and does not feel alienated. He added the ‘Study in Egypt’ platform, which is under the supervisio­n of the Egyptian Ministry of

Higher Education, facilitate­s procedures for students who want to enroll in universiti­es in Egypt. He revealed the platform gives students all the necessary informatio­n about the universiti­es, colleges, courses offered, mechanism of study, and initial acceptance after uploading the documents until the final admission procedures are completed.

Asked about the reduction of Egyptian students’ grades through equivalenc­y, Hashish clarified that the issue of equivalenc­y is a law in the Supreme Council of Universiti­es and it is applicable to some subjects taken outside Egypt.

He said the Coordinati­on Office has its own calculatio­ns and formulas; while students have the right to apply for admission to public and private universiti­es.

He then congratula­ted the high school graduates in the State of Kuwait who achieved the highest grades, wishing them and their families success in the next stage of their academic life.
