The Capital Governor Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Ahmad AlSabah urged the concerned authorities to quickly work on the construction of labor cities, something that has been expected for years, considering that this is an important demand of the entire nation, reports Aljarida daily.

In a press statement on the sidelines of his field visit last month to Bneid Al-Qar, Sharq, Qibla and Mirqab areas along with head of emergency team in Capital Municipality, team members, and a number of officials of the governorate’s general office, Sheikh Talal said the landlords have a national and moral responsibility not to rent out their properties to bachelors.

He said, “This rooted phenomenon has become a concern for all of the public because of its negative repercussions on society. It has become an epidemic that threatens the Kuwaiti national identity and affects various aspects of life on all health, security and social levels, especially after the remarkable increase in employment in private areas”.

Regarding the campaign of the Capital Governorate to remove building violations, Sheikh Talal explained that this national campaign converges with the previous demands and supports joint efforts to develop the regions of the Capital Governorate and its vision for advancement and modernization.

The number of violations reached 165 out of 206 investment properties in Sharq, Mirqab, Qibla, and Bneid Al-Qar. The number of demolitions in Bneid Al-Qar area alone amounted to 88 cases, in Sharq 65 cases, Qibla 16 cases, and in Mirqab 8 cases.

More than 8,000 expatriates living in homes were evicted for violating all regulations and laws, especially those related to health requirements and the lack of conformity of their addresses with the residential addresses recorded in the civil ID, in addition to their accumulation in places that lack security and safety conditions.

In a related context, the Capital Governor praised the steps taken by the Director General of Kuwait Municipality Eng. Ahmad Al-Manfouhi, who instructed all teams in all governorates to deal with building violations.

He also praised the efforts of the Capital Governorate Municipality’s emergency team headed by Zaid Al-Enezi and its members for their remarkable dedication.

Sheikh Talal ended his statement by expressing his hope that the demands would be translated into tangible reality, and that cooperation between the Capital Governorate and the Kuwait Municipality would lead to more achievements to serve the State of Kuwait.

The Ministry of Electricity and Water confirmed the application of strict control over all operations related to the production of fresh water until it reaches consumers by regularly taking samples of water to conduct the necessary tests round the clock in accordance with international regulations, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The ministry revealed that about 600,000 chemical and bacteriological tests of fresh water were conducted in the past year — 588,158 chemical tests and 3,519 bacteriological tests on 38,619 water samples.

According to a statistical report obtained by the daily, the ministry affirmed its commitment to regularly obtain samples from the fresh water reserve for testing to ensure it is suitable for human consumption. Samples are taken from different parts of the reserve, which are specially equipped for sample collection, the ministry added.
