Sisi receives Kuwait Speaker
KUWAIT CITY, July 14: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah ElSisi on Wednesday received Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim in Ittihadia Palace.
Al-Ghanim is currently on a three-day visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt. He conveyed a message from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah about bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation between the two sisterly countries in all fields.
He also conveyed regards of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mesha’al Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah to El-Sisi.
On the other hand, El-Sisi asked the speaker to send his regards and appreciation to the political leadership of Kuwait; stressing that he is keen on preserving the historical sisterly bond between the two nations.
Speaker of Egyptian Parliament Dr Hanafi Al-Jebali and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Egypt Muhammad Saleh Al-Zuwaikh attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, MP Khalil AlSaleh praised the directives of His Highness the Crown Prince to the representatives of the committee tasked to invest the money of retirees at the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS); particularly that of making the retirees partners in investment enterprises for them to earn from such investments.
In a related development, MP Marzouq Al-Khalifa submitted a proposal to grant KD2,000 to every Kuwaiti or non-Kuwaiti retiree registered at PIFSS. He explained his proposal is based on the fact that the revenue of PIFSS for fiscal 2020/2021 was unprecedented as it earned $133.7 billion or KD40.4 billion within this period.
MPs Osama Al-Shaheen, Abdulaziz Al-Saqaabi, Hamad AlMatar, Mubarak Al-Hajraf and Al-Saifi Mubarak Al-Saifi have proposed the amendment of Law No. 18/2016 on social support for the elderly.
The proposal states that the elderly will be exempted from paying fees for using public transportation and for registering their private vehicles at the General Traffic Department.
