Kuwaiti shoots, hurts compatriot friend over ‘personal’ difference­s

MoH condemns attack on ICU staff

KUWAIT CITY, July 14: A Kuwaiti reportedly shot his friend inside an apartment in Salwa, wounding him in the shoulder who had to be rushed to the Mubarak Hospital for treatment.

According to security sources when the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior received a report about a quarrel accompanie­d by shooting between friends inside an apartment in Salwa, securityme­n and personnel from the Emergency Medical Services affiliated to the Ministry of rushed to the site of the incident and found the victim with a bullet wound in the shoulder.

During initial interrogat­ion the 26-year-old victim, who is also Kuwaiti, said he was shot by his friend because of personal difference­s between them.

The sources added personnel from the Hawalli Criminal Investigat­ion Department (CID) have arrested the culprit and found in his possession two shotguns and a number of bullets.

He admitted to shooting his friend because of a personal dispute between them. He has been referred to the Public Prosecutio­n Office.

It is noteworthy to mention here that over the past few days, the country witnessed two murders, quarrels and shooting incidents in the suburbs of Al-Ardhiya, Abu Futaira, Jahra and Khaitan. A majority of these crimes were caused by drug addicts.

Attack condemned: The Ministry of Health condemned the recent assault on the intensive care unit staff in Farwaniya Hospital while on duty, reports AlAnba daily.

The ministry confirmed that it is closely following up the incident and taking all the necessary legal measures to protect the medical staff, as well as the health care providers and workers in the facilities affiliated to it.

The ministry and its staff are keen on providing the best care and high quality of service to all patients and valued visitors, as they fully understand the concerns of their families.

Assistant Undersecre­tary for Public Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Farraj Al-Zoubi honored in his office a number of distinguis­hed officers, non-commission­ed officers and individual­s working in the security sector, for their dedication to work, reports Al-Anba daily.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the Director-General of Hawalli Security Directorat­e Major General Abdullah Al-Ali, Jahra Security Director Major General Salem Al-Ahmar, Capital Security Director Major General Abdeen Al-Abidin, Ahmadi Security Director Major General Saleh Matar and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Security Director Brigadier Khaled Al-Kandari and the Acting Director of Farwaniya Security, Brigadier Salah Al-Daas.
