‘MPW keen to develop road labs’
KUWAIT CITY, July 14: The Ministry of Public Works has affirmed its keenness to develop road laboratories affiliated to the Government Center for Tests and Quality Control due to the importance of on-site examination of asphalt samples, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources.
Sources said the Finance Ministry allocated KD 209,000 for the development of the center in the budget for fiscal 2021/2022.
Sources disclosed the center has inspection devices for the structural evaluation of asphalt pavement, as well as asphalt sampling devices that conform with the specifications and requirements of the Ministry of Public Works, but they are old; hence, the need to upgrade them as per the international standards.
Bid to hire auditors: Director for Administrative and Financial Affairs at Kuwait General Administration of Customs (KGAC) Ali Mishaal Al-Enezi confirmed that the administration will recruit customs, security and safety auditors only, not customs inspectors, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Enezi explained that the administration has enough inspectors at present and its actual manpower needs are limited to the abovementioned positions as per its annual recruitment strategy.
He pointed out the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) previously coordinated with KGAC, resulting in the approval of the study proving that it is not necessary to hire inspectors now.
