Rates of renting chalets during Eid holidays see major increase
KUWAIT CITY, July 14: Good tidings have come with a long break for Eid Al-Adha, prompting people to start planning on ways to spend the holidays. Many Kuwaiti families are looking into travelling overseas after several countries opened their doors to tourism which were closed by the COVID-19 crisis. However, those who decide to stay in the country are left with limited options to spend the Eid holidays, especially with expectations
that activities and complexes will continue to be closed at 8:00pm, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Chalets and parks seem to be the most popular destinations, especially since they provide activities for children such as swimming pools and marine games.
However, due to the increased demand, the prices of the chalets have increased, and there is difficulty in getting reservations during the Eid holidays.
In this regard, informed sources revealed that most of the chalets have been fully booked for the Eid alAdha holidays, as many families opted to book the entire period of the holidays (nine days) from Thursday, July 15 to Saturday, July 24.
They indicated that many chalets and parks announced their offers and dates for Eid Al-Adha reservations, while parks, such as those reserved for Eid, announced that they have no reservations before August.
Regarding the prices, the sources explained that they depend on the size of the chalet and the number of rooms. The prices range between KD 350 and KD 500 for the weekend on regular days but during the festive season, the prices rise up to KD 1,500 for a period of five days starting from the first day of Eid Al-Adha due to the desire of people to rent large chalets sufficient for their entire families, especially since they will coincide with the “Eid visitations”.
Travel
Meanwhile, as Aug 1 is fast approaching, many citizens are inquiring about travel procedures; particularly those concerning the 12 to 15 -year-olds due to the possibility of extending the period of application for travel requirements for this group, thus, they can travel even if they are not vaccinated against coronavirus, reports AlRai daily quoting sources.
Sources revealed the 12 to 15-year-old category will start taking Pfizer vaccine on Aug 1 -the same date that the new travel procedures will take effect, most notably preventing unvaccinated citizens from traveling while vaccinated expatriates are allowed to enter the country.
Sources indicated that there is a possibility these procedures will not be applied to citizens who are 12 to 15 years old and the exemption might continue until Sept 1 -- until completion of the vaccination of those who registered.
Regarding the expatriates, sources said the concerned authorities are still studying the situation; pointing out they will be allowed to enter the country starting from Aug 1 provided they got two doses of any of the approved vaccines in Kuwait.
On the other hand, sources from the tourism and travel sector disclosed that expatriates with children who are 12 to 15 years old must ensure their children are vaccinated in their countries if they want to return to Kuwait; otherwise, they cannot return until new decisions are issued in their favor.
