KUWAIT CITY, Sept 4, (KUNA): The Environment Public Authority announced Saturday the arrest of hunters of migratory birds in the Al-Jadayliat area near the Jahra Reserve, and environmental violations were issued against them.

The authority told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that based on a video posted on social media about some people hunting migratory birds next to the reserve, the authority conducted patrols in cooperation with the Environmental Police Department, and they were arrested and a violation report was issued and the birds that were caught and the hunting weapon and its attachments confiscated.

It stressed the need to abide by the law of environmental protection and to stay away from natural reserves, indicating that the violation comes in accordance with Article 100 of the Environmental Law, which specifies a fine of up to five thousand Kuwaiti dinars and a penalty of imprisonment not exceeding one year.

The article states that “it is prohibited to hunt, kill, catch, collect, harm, possess or transport wild and marine wildlife, whether live or dead, or harm the young, eggs, nests or habitats of these organisms.”

It also stated that the executive regulations of this law specify the types and numbers of organisms that are allowed to be hunted in specific seasons and places, with the exception of hunting for scientific purposes after the approval of the concerned authorities in coordination with the authority.
