His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Monday sent a condolence cable to Lebanese President Michel Aoun, over the demise of the Supreme Shia Islamic Council’s head Sheikh Abdulameer Qablan.

In the cable, His Highness the Amir prayed to Almighty Allah to bestow mercy upon his soul.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad AlSabah sent the Lebanese president similar cables. (KUNA)

KUWAIT CITY: The Ministry of Health explained “the claim that there are mass resignatio­ns among the doctors because of the treatment protocols is incorrect and pure slander,” reports Al-Jarida daily.

The ministry said it is proud of its employees who have exerted tremendous efforts during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic especially during the height of infections.

The ministry said in a press statement to clarify some of the “fallacies” spelled out by one of the protesters, and which was reported by some social media, said “the therapeuti­c protocols used for Covid-19 patients are in line with the latest approved and safe global and regional protocols, and accusing medical staff of killing patients is something the ministry detests.

DOHA: Qatar’s Sheikh Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani

and Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud discussed on Monday ways of boosting relations between the two countries.

This came during the Qatari Amir’s reception of the Saudi official on the occasion of his visit to Doha.

Earlier, Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Interior held a meeting with the Saudi Minister of Interior which discussed ways to enhance cooperatio­n in the field of security. (KUNA)

BAGHDAD: Iraq’s Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed a myriad of issues on Monday with the EU’s foreign policy chief Josep Borell, running the gamut from illegal immigratio­n to upcoming parliament­ary polls in Iraq.

The exodus of Iraqis to EU member states took precedence over other matters amid the talks, the Iraqi foreign minister told a press conference, citing rampant human smuggling networks in his country and the steps taken to remedy the problem. (KUNA)

BRUSSELS:

European Union High Representa­tive for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, will travel to Iraq Monday on a two-day visit, his first official visit to the country as High Representa­tive.

According to a statement released by his office Monday, Borrell will meet in Baghdad today with Iraqi Minister for Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein and will have bilateral meetings. (KUNA)

TEL AVIV:

Israeli forces on Monday launched a massive manhunt in northern Israel and the occupied West Bank after six Palestinia­n prisoners escaped overnight from a high-security facility in an extremely rare breakout.

Officials said they have erected roadblocks and are conducting patrols in the area. Israel’s Army Radio also said 400 prisoners are being moved as a protective measure against any additional escape attempts. (AP)
