KPC to trim spending in ’21/’22
‘Steps include cut in local, overseas training’
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 6: The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) issued a set of measures to rationalize spending in the current 2021/2022 fiscal year, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to the circular issued by the acting CEO of KPC Wafa’a Al-Zoabi, the spending will be reduced from the total operational budget for the current 2021/2022 fiscal year by no less than ten percent. Participation in all local and foreign exhibitions and conferences will be reduced by 50 percent of the approved budget for the current fiscal year. Also, participation in local and overseas training will be reduced, except when required
for work purposes.
Official missions will be reduced by 50 percent from those approved in the budget.
Research, studies and consultations will be reduced by 50 percent from those approved in the budget.
Contracts for non-essential raw materials will be reduced by 50 percent from those approved in the budget. This includes cleaning, security, data entry and printing, correspondents, hotel, hospitality and gifts, advertisements and marketing, etc.
Al-Zoabi called for prioritizing construction projects and contracts, postponing unnecessary ones, and enhancing the process of collecting outstanding debts.
In addition, she affirmed that disbursements will be suspended during the 2021/2022 fiscal year for the following items - health clubs and institutes, spring season services, social and cultural activities such as Umrah trips, parties of all kinds, recreational and cultural trips, chalets, and others.
The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has rejected the request for ‘direct contracting’ to provide SMS accounts for the ‘Shlonak’ application for the Ministry of Health with a local telecommunications company, reports Al-Anba daily.
The contract is for six months and the value is 171,000 dinars. The contract has the approval of the Ministerial Committee in charge of following up the repercussions of the spread of the new Coronavirus but CAPT said contract must be awarded through a tender and not direct contract.
