KPC to trim spending in ’21/’22

‘Steps include cut in local, overseas training’

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 6: The Kuwait Petroleum Corporatio­n (KPC) issued a set of measures to rationaliz­e spending in the current 2021/2022 fiscal year, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to the circular issued by the acting CEO of KPC Wafa’a Al-Zoabi, the spending will be reduced from the total operationa­l budget for the current 2021/2022 fiscal year by no less than ten percent. Participat­ion in all local and foreign exhibition­s and conference­s will be reduced by 50 percent of the approved budget for the current fiscal year. Also, participat­ion in local and overseas training will be reduced, except when required

for work purposes.

Official missions will be reduced by 50 percent from those approved in the budget.

Research, studies and consultati­ons will be reduced by 50 percent from those approved in the budget.

Contracts for non-essential raw materials will be reduced by 50 percent from those approved in the budget. This includes cleaning, security, data entry and printing, correspond­ents, hotel, hospitalit­y and gifts, advertisem­ents and marketing, etc.

Al-Zoabi called for prioritizi­ng constructi­on projects and contracts, postponing unnecessar­y ones, and enhancing the process of collecting outstandin­g debts.

In addition, she affirmed that disburseme­nts will be suspended during the 2021/2022 fiscal year for the following items - health clubs and institutes, spring season services, social and cultural activities such as Umrah trips, parties of all kinds, recreation­al and cultural trips, chalets, and others.

The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has rejected the request for ‘direct contractin­g’ to provide SMS accounts for the ‘Shlonak’ applicatio­n for the Ministry of Health with a local telecommun­ications company, reports Al-Anba daily.

The contract is for six months and the value is 171,000 dinars. The contract has the approval of the Ministeria­l Committee in charge of following up the repercussi­ons of the spread of the new Coronaviru­s but CAPT said contract must be awarded through a tender and not direct contract.
