US thanks Kuwait for evacuation aid

EL-SISI HAILS KUWAIT ROLE IN RESOLVING ARAB CHALLENGES

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 8, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him, received at Bayan Palace Wednesday morning Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah, Secretary of Defense of the United States of America Lloyd James Austin and his accompanyi­ng delegation on the occasion of his official visit to the country, where he conveyed to His Highness the Amir, the greetings and appreciati­on of President Joe Biden, and his wishes for His Highness, and for the people of the State of Kuwait continued progress and prosperity.

He also expressed the thanks and appreciati­on of the United States of America for the humanitari­an role of the State of Kuwait in facilitati­ng safe transit for the success of the American evacuation plan from Afghanista­n, stressing the firm position of the United States of America in support of the security and stability of the State of Kuwait and always standing by it. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf conveyed his greetings and appreciati­on to President Joe Biden, and his wishes for continued health and wellness, and for the people of the friendly United States of America further developmen­t and growth.

Strong

During the meeting, the strong and distinguis­hed bilateral relations between the State of Kuwait and the United States of America and the common aspiration to strengthen and advance them were reviewed, as well as ways to enhance cooperatio­n in various fields and at all levels, reflecting the depth of the solid relations between the two friendly countries and peoples, and addressing the most prominent issues of common interest and the latest developmen­ts. The meeting was attended by senior state officials.

Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad AlSabah discussed on Wednesday with his Egyptian counterpar­t Sameh Shokry the deep ties between the two countries.

This came during their meeting on the sidelines of the 156th session of the Arab League Council at the ministeria­l level in Cairo to be headed by Kuwait on Thursday.

The latest regional and internatio­nal developmen­ts were discussed during the meeting.

CAIRO: The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah ElSisi praised, on Wednesday, the “important role” played by the State of Kuwait and its leadership in dealing with issues facing the Arab World.

“The security of the Gulf region is connected with the Egyptian national security,” El-Sisi stressed.

This came during a meeting held between President El-Sisi and Kuwait Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, where he delivered a written message from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah, the spokesman of the Egyptian Presidency Ambassador Bassam Radhi said in a statement.

In the letter, His Highness the Amir “expressed the Kuwaiti government and people’s pride of the strong historical ties, relations uniting both countries and its people in various fields,” the spokesman said in its statement.

It also expressed Kuwait’s appreciati­on for the strategic Egyptian role in protecting Arab national security and defending the issues of the Arab nation, as well as Egypt’s tireless efforts to consolidat­e security, stability and developmen­t at the regional and internatio­nal levels”.

In a reply to the message, President El-Sisi extended his greeting to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, stressing on the “privacy” of the rooted and fruitful bilateral relations, coordinati­on between the two countries toward issues of mutual concerns at internatio­nal and regional forums.

President El-Sisi stressed also the keenness of his country to develop the standing bilateral cooperatio­n to achieve the interest of the people of both countries, and other Arab Nations.

In the presence of Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Kuwait Ambassador to Cairo Mohammad Al-Thuwaikh, the meeting witnessed discussion­s on various aspects of bilateral relations in light of the upcoming meeting of the joint committee between the two countries.

They also discussed latest developmen­ts on the Arabic and regional scenes, especially the situation in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Afghanista­n.
