Gold Award for Health, Safety for 10th Year KPI says wins RoSPA Chemical Sector Award

LONDON, Sept 9, (KUNA): Kuwait Petroleum Internatio­nal (KPI) announced, Thursday, that it has been named the winner of the 2021 Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for the Chemical Sector Award, in addition to winner of the Occupation­al Health and Safety Gold Award for the tenth consecutiv­e year.

The Gold award recognizes an organizati­on’s overall health and safety performanc­e, policies, and procedures.

Specifical­ly, the industry sector awards are competitiv­e awards given to organizati­ons that show surpass their competitor­s in leadership commitment to health and safety.

In addition, this award judged organizati­ons on the efficacy of their response to challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in each industry sector.

KPI’s submission­s for the awards were assessed by independen­t, experience­d and well-qualified health and safety profession­als engaged by RoSPA, liaising with other panel members.

KPI was commended in the past for its sector award entry, but this is the first time that KPI has won a sector award.

This award is a testament to KPI’s adherence to the principles of an accident-free workplace and robust safety procedures in all its operations.

The Company’s President and CEO Sheikh Nawaf Al-Sabah said, “We are delighted by this announceme­nt, because it reflects the dedication and focus we put in protecting our employees, assets and brand.”

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) is a UKbased organizati­on that aims to limit accidents in the workplace and elsewhere.

It has campaigned on several safety issues in the UK, including matters specific to occupation­al health and safety.

Organizati­ons receiving a RoSPA Award are recognized as industry leaders in health and safety practice.

Every year, nearly 2,000 entrants vie to achieve the highest possible accolade in what is the UK’s longestrun­ning health and safety industry awards.

KPI is the internatio­nal downstream subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporatio­n, ranked as one of the world’s largest national oil companies.
