Kuwait gifts Qatar Amir ‘commemorative coin’
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12, (KUNA): His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, received the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait Dr. Muhammad Yousef Al-Hashel, who conveyed to His Highness the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, their wishes of good health to His Highness and to the sisterly State of Qatar and its people further progress and prosperity.
He also presented to His Highness a special commemorative coin issued by the Central Bank of Kuwait to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Gulf Cooperation Council and in appreciation of the positive role played by the Council and its efforts in achieving stability and development in the region despite the circumstances that dominated the region over the past decades and in perpetuating the role of the founding leaders and their vision.
The design of the coin bears on its front face the historical photograph that was taken of the leaders of the six countries of the Council when it was established in 1981, topped by the number indicating the number of years since its establishment, surrounded by the title of the coin in Arabic and the two years of establishment and issuance.
The council’s logo, which consists of a hexagonal shape surrounding a map of the GCC states, is topped with the phrase “In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Most Merciful.”
At the bottom is the name of the organization, in addition to the title of the coin in English. It also bears the official logo of the Central Bank of Kuwait and the symbolic value of the coin.
It is worth noting that the coin is made of pure gold according to international standards, with a diameter of 55 mm and a weight of 72.5 grams.
