‘Army role in peace, war vital’
Minister visits WMD Defense Command
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 27, (KUNA): Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah affirmed that the role played by the Kuwaiti army in a state of peace is no less important than its role in a state of war.
The Minister of Defense said during an inspection tour that he made Monday morning, in the Defense Command against Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), the Radar Warning Brigades Group, the Maintenance and Technical Supply Command, that “the tasks assigned to the army by the Council of Ministers throughout the corona pandemic period are the support and backing of the Ministries of Interior and Health.”
He stressed the importance of the role played by the defense leadership against weapons of mass destruction in the case of peace in terms of supporting the military and civil sectors and educating them on how to deal with chemical and radioactive materials and in case of war by enabling the armed forces to perform their tasks and continue their military operations in polluted air.
He also praised the efforts made by the leadership and the distinguished role of its affiliates during the corona pandemic, stressing the keenness of the Ministry of Defense to keep pace with the development taking place in the field of manufacturing devices and equipment used in this field and to provide protection and prevention for workers and their trainees in various weathers and conditions.
During the tour, he listened to a briefing by the Commandant of Command, Colonel Ziad Al-Hajri, in which he explained the nature of the tasks and duties assigned to the Defense against Weapons of Mass Destruction leadership and the quality of the training programs approved in the process of preparing and qualifying its members to deal with various situations and events.
The Minister of Defense was also briefed on the devices and equipment used in this field, which enable the workers on them to perform and implement their tasks and duties in the required manner.
After that, he visited the Air Force’s Radar Warning Brigades Group, where he was received by the Air Force’s Assistant Commander, Major General Pilot Bandar Al Muzayen, and the Radar Warning Brigades Group Commander, Colonel Osama Al-Enezi, who gave a detailed explanation of the nature of the work and tasks assigned to the group and the duties it performs in constant cooperation and coordination with the various sectors of the army and the General Administration of Civil Aviation.
The Minister of Defense praised the role played by the group’s members and the importance of their work in the readiness of the armed forces and the degree of their readiness, as they are the watchful eye that works around the clock to preserve the security, safety and stability of the country.
After that, the Minister of Defense moved on his tour to the Maintenance and Technical Supply Command of the Logistics and Supply Authority, and he was received upon his arrival by the Assistant Chief of General Staff of the Logistics Authority, Major General Khaled Al-Obaidi, and a number of the Authority’s leaders.
He was briefed on the mechanism of workflow in the workshops and technical workshops, and he also listened to a briefing from the commander of the Maintenance and Technical Supply Command, Colonel Engineer Othman Al-Saeed, in which he gave an explanation of the role and duties of the leadership in supporting and supporting the general army units and the official authorities in the country.
The Minister of Defense stressed the importance of the role played by maintenance in the process of upgrading and improving the level of performance among the ranks of the modern armies, as it is the nerve and backbone in their readiness, achieving sustainability for the work of mechanisms, weapons, equipment and increasing their lifespan, avoiding losses in the event of their failure, and contributing to preserving public money through good management and follow-up of maintenance work in all its forms and types.
He praised the efficiency and ability of the nation’s craftsmen and technicians from the Maintenance and Technical Supply Command, who continue to work around the clock with determination, love and loyalty to serve this generous country and contribute to achieving its progress, development and prosperity.
During his inspection tour, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense conveyed the greetings and appreciation of His Highness the Amir, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister.
