UN office in Kuwait takes part in Mishref area cleaning drive
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 17, (KUNA): The United Nations Office in Kuwait and the (Trash Hero) Volunteer Group participated in a voluntary campaign to clean up the land of MishrEf, which aims to increase environmental awareness and preserve the natural environment in Kuwait.
The representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, Resident Coordinator in Kuwait, Dr Tariq AlSheikh, said in a press statement on Saturday that this distinguished effort and teamwork has a great impact on everyone, especially since it is held within the month of October, which includes the United Nations Day on the 24th of each year, in addition to launching a campaign it was called (Youth Day and Dealing with Climate Change).
He expressed his happiness with the presence of this group of volunteers, whether Kuwaiti or non-Kuwaiti, in the campaign aimed at cleaning and disinfecting the Mishref area, especially the diplomatic area, expressing his thanks to the Green Hands Group and the Spread The Passion volunteer group.
He added that the campaign is consistent with climatic changes, so that waste scattered from the land is dealt with, recycled and developed.
He added that the Mishref area is one of the distinguished areas as it included the diplomatic area in addition to the United Nations headquarters provided by Kuwait, which was called the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Building.
The sheikh expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to making Kuwait beautiful always and forever, explaining that we must all unite and cooperate for the good and interest of Kuwait under the wise leadership represented by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
