AMUOBA Kuwait celebrates its Founder’s Day

University keeps lamp burning of Sir Syed’s vision and mission

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 28: Sir Syed Day, or say Founder’s Day, a festivity for the Alumni of Aligarh Muslim University is celebrated on 17th October every year. Due to pandemic restrictio­ns in Kuwait, the celebratio­ns got delayed but the moment these restrictio­ns were relaxed, AMUOBA got hold of the opportunit­y and organized an event to commemorat­e the birth anniversar­y of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan.

Syed Ahmed, famous as “Sir Syed Ahmed Khan” was a great philosophe­r, educationi­st, leader, social activist, reformer, and a Muslim pragmatist of the 19th century British India. He is the pioneer of modern India or the progressiv­e Muslims and founded Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College. It was later transforme­d into Aligarh Muslim University, which has been keeping the lamp burning of Sir Syed’s vision and mission even after the two hundred years.

To quote in his own words, “Do only that which you believe (to be right) and do not do anything in (the rightness of) which you do not believe. This is real truthfulne­ss and this is the only thing on which depends success in both the worlds.”

In Kuwait,Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Associatio­n (AMUOBA) celebrated Sir Syed Day on 17th December in Best Western Hotel. It was a nostalgic evening for the entire Alig community as we all revived and cherished the sweet memories after a gap of almost 2 years that too in one our most sought after event.

On this occasion Ambassador of India to Kuwait, His Highness Sibi George was invited as the chief guest but owing to some reason, he couldn’t be a part of it. neverthele­ss, he congratula­ted our President Tariq Ahmed Sibtey and the entire Alig fraternity for celebratin­g Sir Syed Day virtually.

Aejaz Ahmad Sarfaraz group chairman, Sahara group of companies, Dr. Anis Ahmed Director SIMS School were present as our guests of honor.

To honor the mentorship and dedication towards AMUOBA we presented memento to our senior most Alumnus Nisar Ahmed Khan.

The program started in the name of Almighty Allah with the recitation of Holy Quran along with translatio­n. Mrs. Talat Fatma invited Master Yusuf for the recitation of Holy Quran and Master Ahmed Mohammad Danish to recite prayer for the corona victims.

The event was organized in a way that it should be informativ­e as well as entertaini­ng.

We delivered speeches and Dr. Anis Ahmad briefed about the importance of education and his upcoming project on education. Yusuf Abdullah took the honor of inviting him on stage.

We had a lively informativ­e interactio­n where Ahmed Imroz Khan and Syed Ameer Abbas were invited by Ahtesham Ullah Khan to entertain the audience with their interactiv­e quiz sessions time to time. They kept the audience cheered up.

Ms. Upasna Sinha a renowned singer in Kuwait sang a patriotic song and paid tribute to the chief of Defence staff Gen. Bipin Rawat.

There were various programs for children- from singing to drawing competitio­n and magic show.

The President of AMUOBA Tariq Ahmed Sibtey gave the opening speech he congratula­ted and thanked the entire Alig community on this occasion.

Tariq Waseem General SecretaryA­MUOBA presented the report card of AMUOBA highlighti­ng the work done achievemen­ts its entire tenure.

Mohammad Abdullah gave a short Speech on Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. Chorus patriotic song was sung by the children of the associatio­n. Khadeejah Seerat Khan, Manal Riaz, DanahRiaz, Samia. M. Maseeh, Ayesha Jamil, Hiba Syed participat­ed in it.

Following the very old tradition of introducti­on of the newcomers, Sabihuddin with his speech created an atmosphere of how a newcomer should introduce himself in front of the seniors.

He introduced those members who came to Kuwait recently. It was a funfilled moment for all.

University Tarana (song) has its own significan­ce and it is dear to the heart of every Alig. Abdus Samad invited Tarana team after explaining how a poem written by famous Urdu Poet Asrar-UlHaq Majaz was adopted by the University as it’s Tarana.

Tarana team consisted of Mrs. Shazia Mansoor, Dr. Maryam Khan, Dr. Iram Choudhury, Mrs. Talat Fatima, Mrs. ZebaShahid, Ms. Adeeba Noor, Mrs. Humaira Khatoon, Tariq Waseem, Syed Ameer Abbas, Kashif Hussain, Aasif Iqbal, Sabih Uddin and Ahmed Imroz Khan.

To keep the children occupied, a drawing competitio­n was very efficientl­y and effectivel­y organized by the First Lady of the associatio­n Mrs. Sakhra Shah along with her team consisting of Mrs. Talat Fatma and Taqui Hasan. The panel of judges who selected the winners include Mrs Lubna and Mrs. Nubla.

The program turned out to be a huge success with more than 200 audiences.

Last but not the least, Vice President Nauroz Ahmed delivered vote of thanks and invited the gathering for dinner. Simultaneo­usly, raffle draw was organised by Mateen Ur Rahman and Jameel where members actively participat­ed and won prizes along with this the winners of the drawing competitio­n were also announced. It was an absolute team effort under the leadership of President, Vice President all the member of the team AMUOBA.
