KRCS continues humanitarian aid to displaced and needy in Yemen
Delegation inspects projects, assess situation
ADEN, Dec 29, (KUNA): The Director-General of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Abdul Rahman Al-Oun, affirmed on Tuesday that the society will continue its humanitarian interventions in Yemen to alleviate the suffering of its citizens who live in a deteriorating humanitarian situation, especially in the overcrowded Ma’rib governorate.
In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) at the conclusion of the association’s delegation’s visit to Yemen, Al-Aoun said that “the humanitarian situation is very deteriorating, especially in the Ma’rib governorate, which hosts large numbers of displaced people under harsh conditions.”
He added that the association will enhance its humanitarian response and intensify its future efforts to take care of water projects and raise the standard of living for the displaced, in addition to continuing its previous projects in the sectors of health, education and orphan care.
He explained that the visit aimed to assess the humanitarian situation and inspect nine development projects implemented by the association in the governorates of Taiz, Ma’rib, Shabwa and Hadhramaut, including hospitals, health centers, schools and orphanages funded by Kuwaiti donors.
He indicated that the delegation inspected the project of mobile clinics that were rented for a month to serve the displaced in the governorate of Shabwa and handed over two ambulances to the field hospital that the
association established last year in the city of Tarim in Wadi Hadramout to enhance its capabilities in serving the families and the displaced.
He pointed out that the association’s delegation, which also includes Mubarak Al-Shatti and Youssef AlNajjar, inaugurated the winter bag project, which included 1,340 blankets and 5,360 coats for men, women and children displaced in the camps Taiz and Ma’rib to contribute to alleviating their suffering, especially with the cold weather in the winter.
He pointed out that the Kuwaiti support
and humanitarian aid provided through the Red Crescent or through charitable associations and institutions were met with great approval and appreciation by Yemenis at the governmental and popular levels.
Al-Aoun expressed his thanks and appreciation to all the donors and donors from the State of Kuwait for their generous support to help their brothers in Yemen, indicating that their support had a great impact in alleviating the aggravating human suffering.
At the conclusion of his statement, Al-Aoun affirmed that the deteriorating
humanitarian situation in Yemen “needs a comprehensive pause, not only from the Kuwaiti and Gulf relief organizations, but from all international relief organizations” to alleviate the great human suffering experienced by Yemenis, especially the displaced in large numbers in the Ma’rib and Taiz governorates and Shabwa.
On Monday, a delegation from Kuwait Red Crescent Society handed over two ambulances to an integrated field hospital in Tarim city, Hadhramaut Governorate, east Yemen.
