Female students make majority at Kuwait University

-

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 8: For successive years, two-thirds of the total number of students at Kuwait University have been female students, and one-third male students, reports Al-Qabas daily.

However, it was noted that the percentage of female students increased during the first semester of the current academic year to 73 percent compared to only 27 percent of male students. This confirms that women will be numerically superior in the future generation’s university output.

According to the ratios of male and female students in colleges, female students constitute a great majority of more than 90 percent in medical specialties.

The figures show that the rate of female students in the faculties of allied medical sciences and pharmacy is 94 percent, and in dentistry 93 percent, as compared to only 6 percent and 7 percent of male students in these specialties.

In the Faculty of Public Health, the rate of female students was 91 percent, and in medicine 78 percent. They also constituted the majority in the College of Architecture.

These figures will be reflected on the labor market when it is supplemented with university output, as it appears from the figures that the female workforce will be a majority in some professions and specializations, such as pharmacy, dentistry, and medical technical specializations, in addition to the large number of women in teaching and architectural professions.
