‘Erect clinics along highways’
KUWAIT CITY, April 20: MP Ahmad Al-Hamad has proposed the establishment of medical centers along the highways to provide emergency and first aid services; particularly Abdally Road, Nuwaiseeb
Road and Salmi
Road which are considered accident-prone areas.
He submitted another proposal to assign newly hired teachers in schools near the addresses recorded in their civil IDs, depending on the desired location of the teachers and vacant teaching posts in schools under the Ministry of Education.
He also proposed requiring Kuwaiti engineers and technicians who will operate the new Kuwait International Airport to undergo advanced training abroad.
Meanwhile, MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji has forwarded queries to Minister of Social Affairs and Societal Development and Minister of State for Housing Welfare and Urban Development Mubarak Al-Arow about the news published by Al-Jarida daily that he recruited other Gulf citizens at the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW); instead of Kuwaitis.
He demanded for information about the PAHW staff who were hired since the day the government submitted its resignation till date, list of Gulf citizens recruited under the ‘vital services’ item, proof that the Gulf employees are residing in Kuwait and are not exempted from the fingerprint attendance system, list of employees who were reshuffled, and list of senior officials who have been appointed since Al-Arow assumed office till date.
On the other hand, the parliamentary Environment Affairs Committee discussed Wednesday the compensation for the agricultural sector.
Committee Chairman MP Hamad AlMatar called for the formation of a factfinding committee to investigate compensation orders amounting to KD500 million. He said the former chairman of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) did not send the objection letter of the Technical Department to the Tenders Committee, which has been tasked to specify the compensation amount.
Earlier, he submitted queries to Secretary General of the Agricultural Compensation Liaison Committee Nuhail Al-Abdulrazaq; disclosing the latter left before the meeting ended – an indication that she does not respect the Parliament and the committee.
He asked Al-Abdulrazaq why Kuwaitis were not appointed to jobs for which they are qualified, but she responded that this question should be directed to the concerned minister. He also quoted Al-Abdulrazaq as saying that the number of Kuwaiti employees totaled 16; compared to seven expatriates who are working as accountants, secretaries and IT technicians. He then urged Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Muhammad Al-Fares to take action regarding the behavior of AlAbdulrazaq who left before the committee meeting ended.
