KUWAIT CITY, April 23: The Director of the Cancer Patients Fund at the Kuwait Society for Combating Smoking and Cancer Jamal Al-Saleh said the fund has provided, since its establishment in 1994, material and in-kind assistance to 5,000 patients, with a total amount of one million and 950,000 dinars, with the self-efforts of the fund, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Saleh said in a press statement, “During the month of Ramadan, the fund receives many calls from cancer patients who praise the fund’s continued support for them, thanks to God, the continued support of donors to the fund to continue its giving and expand the provision of aid to reach the largest number of patients who need this aid.”

He stated that this aid meets their needs and eases the burden of cancer for them and their families by providing monthly financial aid to those who lose their work as a result of their treatment, and bearing the costs of X-rays, tests and other projects that support the cancer patient and his family.

Al-Saleh pointed out that the continuation of assistance in its various forms to patients improves their mental health and achieves positive support for the quality of life of patients, pointing out that those in charge of the Cancer Patients Fund are accelerating the procedures for delivering aid, paying the costs of examinations and providing what they can to help the patient.

He stressed the importance of enhancing the spirit of human and social solidarity for the patient and his family, which alleviates the suffering that the patient feels, not in front of the disease, but in front of the requirements of living and preserving the family entity.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Dr. Khaled AlSaeed, has recently issued a decision according to which residents of Mubarak AlKabeer Health District will receive health services from the Jaber Hospital, reports Al-Jarida daily.
