Kuwait affirms support for all international efforts to protect environment
Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organizations Affairs Counselor Abdulaziz Al-Jarallah affirmed on Wednesday the State of Kuwait’s support for all international efforts to help mitigate and protect the environment, pointing to continued cooperation and coordination with the United Nations in this field to achieve sustainable development goals and help troubled countries.
In a statement to reporters on the sidelines of his participation in the celebration of the International Earth Day by the United Nations office in the country, Al-Jarallah said that Kuwait supports the agreements related to the environment, adding that protecting the environment needs joint international action, and it is the duty of all.
He expressed his happiness to participate, representing the Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, in sponsoring this ceremony and the efforts of the United Nations office in the country in its support of Kuwaiti youth and its support for the strategic relationship between the State of Kuwait and the United Nations.
In turn, the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to the State of Kuwait, Dr. Tariq El-Sheikh, stressed in his speech the role of young people as active elements for development and the importance of ensuring that they are listened to and taking into account their concerns and the solutions they propose to national governments and institutions.
At the ceremony, the United Nations Office honored the participants and volunteers in the United Nations activities over the past year, which aims to motivate young people to work on climate awareness.
International Earth Day is an annual event celebrated all over the world on April 22 to show support and promote adequate culture to protect the environment. It was first held on April 22, 1970.
