Woman running liquor factory held
The Public Security personnel have arrested an unidentified Asian woman for turning her apartment into a liquor manufacturing factory in the Al-Ahmadi Governorate, reports Al-Rai daily.
Personnel from General Department for Drugs and Alcohol Control have seized 200 bottles from the apartment in addition to big size plastic buckets full of raw material and referred the seizure with the bootlegger to the security authorities.
Meanwhile, customs officers at the Nuwaiseeb port thwarted an attempt to smuggle out of the country a large quantity of cigarettes hidden in a passenger’s vehicle, reports Al-Rai daily.
The Customs Administration indicated that, based on the instructions of the Director of the General Administration of Customs, Suleiman Abdulaziz Al-Fahad, to check the coming and departing vehicles, the inspectors suspected a four-wheel drive vehicle, and after examining it carefully and dismantling some of its parts found about 800 cartons of cigarettes hidden in separate parts of the vehicle.
