Woman running liquor factory held

The Public Security personnel have arrested an unidentifi­ed Asian woman for turning her apartment into a liquor manufactur­ing factory in the Al-Ahmadi Governorat­e, reports Al-Rai daily.

Personnel from General Department for Drugs and Alcohol Control have seized 200 bottles from the apartment in addition to big size plastic buckets full of raw material and referred the seizure with the bootlegger to the security authoritie­s.

Meanwhile, customs officers at the Nuwaiseeb port thwarted an attempt to smuggle out of the country a large quantity of cigarettes hidden in a passenger’s vehicle, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Customs Administra­tion indicated that, based on the instructio­ns of the Director of the General Administra­tion of Customs, Suleiman Abdulaziz Al-Fahad, to check the coming and departing vehicles, the inspectors suspected a four-wheel drive vehicle, and after examining it carefully and dismantlin­g some of its parts found about 800 cartons of cigarettes hidden in separate parts of the vehicle.
