Kuwaiti Embassy organizes annual Iftar project in India

NEW DELHI, April 24, (KUNA): The Embassy of the State of Kuwait in India announced on Sunday the implementa­tion of the annual Iftar project under the supervisio­n of the General Secretaria­t of Endowments, with a generous donation from philanthro­pists in Kuwait.

The embassy said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that it has coordinate­d with many Indian charities in various states within the framework of the “Kuwait by your side” campaign, by distributi­ng more than 2,200 baskets containing basic foodstuffs to a large number of Indian families.

Kuwait’s Ambassador to India Jassem Al-Najem expressed his thanks to the Kuwaiti authoritie­s, especially the General Secretaria­t of Endowments and the Kuwaiti people, who loved charitable work and provided assistance to the needy.

Al-Najem stated that the Iftar project in India for the current year is the largest compared to previous years, as about 42 tons of foodstuffs were distribute­d, and that the project did not stop even in the darkest conditions that India experience­d last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For his part, Secretary-General of Al-Ghazali Charitable Society, Abdulaziz Al-Azami, one of the associatio­ns implementi­ng the project this year, expressed his appreciati­on to the State of Kuwait and its charitable institutio­ns for continuing to provide support to needy families.

The needy individual­s and families that received the food baskets expressed their gratitude and appreciati­on to Kuwait, especially in light of the difficult circumstan­ces accompanyi­ng the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is noteworthy that this annual project, which is being held in various countries of the world, confirms the humanitari­an role of the State of Kuwait and its people and embodies the meaning of giving.
