Rare specializa­tion grant OK’d for Kuwaiti, Gulf secondary teachers

KUWAIT CITY, April 25: The Civil Service Commission has approved the rare specializa­tion allowance for Kuwaiti and Gulf female mathematic­s teachers working in secondary school only, after their percentage decreased to 27.5% of the total number of employees, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The teachers are expected to be paid rare specializa­tion allowance of 200 dinars retroactiv­ely from the beginning of the 20212022 scholastic year (last October). Informed sources revealed that the administra­tive sector in the Ministry of Education began, since last Thursday, the procedures for disbursing the money to eligible Kuwaiti and Gulf teachers, after receiving the response of the Civil Service Commission, approving the ministry’s request to grant the allowance for the current academic year.

Statistics

According to official statistics, a copy of which has been obtained by the daily, the number of teachers working in the intermedia­te and secondary levels who are entitled to the rare specializa­tion allowance has increased to 1,678 male and female teachers; 8 different specializa­tions for males -- Arabic, English, French, mathematic­s, science, and physics and chemistry and biology, compared to only two majors for females at the secondary level, mathematic­s and physics.

The Ministry of Education is scheduled to issue decisions to add the bonus for the newly added teachers this week, and then upload it to the integrated systems, in preparatio­n for sending the list of statements to the financial sector for retroactiv­e disburseme­nt and depositing the money in their respective bank accounts.

The Civil Service Commission has agreed to grant members of the Kuwaiti educationa­l authority and citizens of the GCC countries rare specializa­tion allowance for the academic year 2021-2022.
