KUWAIT CITY, April 28: MP Badr Al-Humaidi has suggested the deportation of expatriates who have files at Psychiatric Hospital.

He said around 36,000 expatriates have undergone psychiatric treatment as at the end of 2020; indicating they are considered a threat to the safety and security of the society. He added that First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf AlAhmad informed him these expatriates cannot be deported due to the absence of a final decision on the issue.

On the other hand, MP Hesham Al-Saleh forwarded queries to Minister of Education and Higher Education Ali Al-Mudaf about the violations committed by Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) as per the reports of the State Audit Bureau (SAB) and Kuwait Society for Education Quality.

He revealed the violations include allowing senior officials at KISR to monopolize the sabbatical leave slots for conducting scientific research. Therefore, he wants to know the criteria for granting such leave, number of researchers who have been granted such leave in the last 15 years, their experience and specializations, number of senior officials among these researchers, privileges granted to each of them, and response of KISR to the comment of SAB about some senior officials who were granted sabbatical leave to conduct research even if their specializations are not in line with the research topic.

MP Khalid Al-Otaibi asked Minister of Information and Culture Hamad Rouhaldeen about the measures taken against those behind a television drama series shown during Ramadan; as the series contained immoral scenes and topics, in addition to violating the social and religious values and Kuwaiti traditions.

He said many sociologists, scholars and media figures have confirmed that there is a campaign against the social and religious values of Kuwaitis. He inquired if the ministry has a strategy to deal with such a campaign and if there is a plan to file a case against the producers of the drama which tarnished the reputation of Kuwait.

Furthermore, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim sent a cable to his counterpart in Sierra Leone – Abas Bundu – greeting him on the National Day of his country.

Al-Ghanim sent a similar cable to Speaker of the National Council for Provinces of South Africa Amos Masondo and Speaker of the National Assembly Nosiviwe Mapisa to greet them on their National Day.

He also greeted Speaker of the National Assembly of Togo Yawa Djigbodi Tsègan on the National Day of his country.
