KEA Kannur organizes Iftar meet – a sign of brotherhood and harmony
Iftars are common during Ramadan time. However, the iftar hosted by Kannur Expatriate Association Kuwait (KEA) at Wafra for the farm workers on Friday, April 22, stood out as an example of sharing what we have with our less fortunate brothers. KEA arranged Iftar meet for about 400 farm workers of 50 farms at designated Wafra farm houses.
Apart from Indians we were glad to welcome workers from Bangladesh, Egypt, Sri Lanka and Pakistan at the gathering. This was indeed a testimony of our universal brotherhood.
Sakeer Puthenpalam delivered the Ramadan message at the Iftar gathering presided over by the KEA President Sherine Mathew.
In her presidential address, Ms. Sherine said that it was the best act of the Association to be with the the poor and break the Iftar fast with them. Those who strive for the well-being of widows and the poor is like one who strives in the way of Allah, or prays at night and fasts during the day.
This was the third time that the Kannur Expat Association Kuwait organized such special Iftar for the workers of the farm houses under the leadership of convener Santosh Kumar. General Secretary Dominic welcomed the attendees, Jayakumari, Anoop, Deepu and others felicitated them. In his vote of thanks KEA Treasurer, Harindran, appreciated all KEA members and well wishers for their support to make this event a success.
