KUWAIT CITY, May 9: National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim expressed his pride in the gathering of Arab youth parliamentarians at the Arab Parliamentary Scout Union (APSU) forum, especially since it tackles important issues like the empowerment of youths and women.

In a press statement on his participation in the forum, Al-Ghanim stressed the need to support such initiatives; which strengthen Arab unity and determines common goals.

He also praised the efforts of APSU Chairman MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji and Chairman of the Arab Institute for Development Dr Badr Malallah in organizing the forum.

He highlighted the protocol signed by APSU and the institute, pointing out the protocol will yield positive results in the short and long terms.

He added most Arab countries have joined APSU and the remaining few will take the same step soon.

Meanwhile, Al-Ghanim attended the eulogy for the late Kuwaiti political icon Ahmed Al-Khateeb organized by Kuwait Graduates Society.

He lauded Al-Khateeb whom he considers a model politician as the latter knew how to argue and agree properly. “Al-Khateeb was a politician who followed the Constitution. He never filed a grilling motion in his entire career as a lawmaker. Everyone must follow in the steps of the founding fathers, especially in respecting the Constitution

and enforcing it properly,” Al-Ghanim asserted praying that Allah Almighty will have mercy on Al-Khateeb.

Moreover, MP Al-Saifi Mubarak Al-Saifi asked Minister of Health Khalid Al-Saeed about the breakdown of the cancer treatment equipment at Kuwait Cancer Control Center.

He said he received complaints from several citizens who visited the center in the last two weeks of April 2022 to undergo cancer treatment only to be informed that the equipment malfunctioned and the situation remained the same when they returned the following day.

He requested for a detailed report on the breakdowns of the equipment. He inquired if there are alternatives, if these alternatives are ready for use, and reasons for not procuring alternatives if the answer is ‘no’.

He asked for a list of Kuwaiti patients who were supposed to undergo treatment in the United States of America in recent years, but they did not travel because the American hospitals are fully booked. He wants to know the factors which caused the delay in getting appointments for treatment in American hospitals and steps taken to address this issue. He demanded for copies of correspondences between the Health Ministry, Kuwait Health Office in America and the concerned American hospitals.

On the other hand, MP Abdullah AlTuraiji submitted a proposal to establish a trauma center to quickly provide treatment for those injured in traffic incidents, as well as acts of violence like stabbing or hitting with metal objects.

He also suggested the establishment of a health center for emergency cases like injuries and burns to reduce pressure on public hospitals and save more lives.
