Court jails businessma­n, lawyer for selling co’s 18mln shares by forgery

KUWAIT CITY, May 10: The Criminal Court sentenced a businessma­n and a lawyer to five years in prison for selling 18 million shares of a major company for KD1,100,000 by using a forged Ministry of Commerce certificat­e, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Earlier, the owners and partners of a car dealership company filed a case against the businessma­n and the lawyer.

The Public Prosecutio­n charged them with forgery of official documents, breach of trust, and abusing their positions in the company.

54 referred to prosecutio­n: The Ministry of Social Affairs and Community Developmen­t has taken legal measures, and referred 54 people to the Public Prosecutio­n for announcing and collecting donations without obtaining licenses during the holy month of Ramadan and during the Eid celebratio­n, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The inspection team of the Ministry headed by the Director of the Charitable Societies and Charitable Associatio­ns Department, Abdulaziz Al-Ajmi, succeeded in carrying out 2,633 inspection tours during the month of Ramadan and Eid, which resulted in monitoring the activities and 157 adverts which violated the collection of donations law.

All those who have violated the laws have been referred to the competent authoritie­s to take legal action against them.

The teams also dismantled 224 kiosks which were put up for collecting clothes without a licence, in addition to monitoring 109 others that are being dealt with.

In another context, the Director of Public Relations at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Enezi, called on the citizens and residents to exercise caution by due to the actions of some suspicious accounts, which impersonat­e the Ministry on Facebook and some websites by placing advertisem­ents asking for financial grants.

Al-Enezi confirmed that the ministry did not place such advertisem­ents, or request such informatio­n in all its official accounts, indicating that the ministry will take all legal measures towards such sites.
