KUWAIT CITY, May 11: The Deputy Director-General for Public Relations and Development Affairs, and spokesman for the Public Authority for Housing Welfare, Omar Al-Ruwaih, revealed there is a schedule for the distribution of plots of land to deserving citizens in South Sa’ad Al-Abdullah and South Sabah Al-Ahmad City, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Ruwaih said in a press statement, the PAHW is keen to fulfill its promises to citizens. He added, about a thousand housing plots will be distributed within the two projects south of Sa’ad Al-Abdullah and south of Sabah Al-Ahmad city.

He added, “The distribution will start on the May 11, when 948 plots in the South Saad Al-Abdullah project, within the N1 sector will be distributed, while the other distribution will be announced successively.”

He pointed out that the distributions in the south of the city of Sabah Al-Ahmad will include, according to the approved schedule, sectors N7 and N9, and it will be announced on June 1, 2022.

He explained that the dates and procedural steps for a single distribution take 5 working days, one day to announce the names of the batch of citizens for whom the vouchers are allocated, then two days to distribute the cards, a day for reserve cards, and a final day to conduct the lottery process.

Meanwhile, the total number of executive contracts signed by the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) for 2021 was 33, worth 902,996,416 dinars, divided into 6 contracts for parcels and services, 6 contracts for public buildings, 12 contracts for road and main services, 21 contracts in the city Al-Mutla’a housing project, 5 contracts in Sabah Al-Ahmad residential city, and two contracts for the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak housing project, with one contract each for the following projects -- East Taima, AlWafra, Abu Halifa, South Abdullah AlMubarak and Al-Naseem.

The sources confirmed that the number of public buildings handed over by the Public Corporation for Housing Welfare to the relevant government agencies in 2021 has reached 51, while the number of buildings under implementation is 100.

Last month, Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs Abdulwahab AlRasheed said the government gave the green light to the funding of South Saad

Al-Abdullah Town and the rehabilitation of Souq Al-Mubarakiya in FY 2022-2023.

The South Saad Al-Abdullah housing project costs a total of KD 2.1 billion (nearly USD 6.8 billion) which will be phased over the coming state budgets according to the construction stages of the project.

It is listed in the draft bill linking the budgets of the state departments for FY 2022-2023, he told reporters, noting that bill still awaits endorsement from the National Assembly.

“The housing question is a top priority for the government, which does its utmost to provide adequate funding for the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) to meet its obligations towards the people of Kuwait,” the minister pointed out.

“On January 25, the government injected liquidity to appropriation of 11,428 plots of land,” Al-Rasheed said, appreciating cooperation from the legislative authority. “Only three months later, the executive authority approved today KD 2.1 billion funding for the South Saad Al-Abdullah project, which signals out keenness on enabling PAHW to find solutions to the housing question,” he explained.
