‘We are at threshold of important stage for women’s empowerment’

-

“DESPITE what has happened recently related to modern definitions of development, few of them have touched on women and the obstacles they face in general and the Gulf countries in particular,” columnist Dr Nada Suleiman Al Mutawa wrote for Al-Jarida daily.

“The issue of development and women is one of the most important topics that are widely discussed at the various local, regional and international levels. As we entered the month of May and the approach of International Women’s Day, we wonder about the efforts made in development, enabling women to take up decisionmaking platforms and identifying opportunities for women and the challenges that they face or have faced.

“What is missing from our research institutions today to do such work? I say based on my personal experience, when I joined one of the most important research centers at the Kuwait University, our research centers lacked studies related to development planning in general and in the field of women in particular.

“There is no doubt that we bear part of the responsibility today as researchers and activists in the field of women, and we have several ways to reach a development road map for the advancement of women and their rights.

“Here are some suggested ideas – defining goals for development efforts, specifying implementation requirements; studying the opportunities and challenges that women face and continuous evaluation of the current situation of women.

“There is no doubt that we are at the threshold of an important stage for the empowerment of women and the implementation of development plans related to the United Nations Millennium Goals. All we have to do is dedicate efforts under a development umbrella characterized by sound planning to reach empowerment and eliminate marginalization.”

“After the failure of his military campaign to occupy the Ukrainian capital ‘Kyiv’ and annex Ukraine to his ‘tsarist empire’, Putin retreated and gathered his military forces to extend his control over the eastern region of Donbass and considered controlling it a crushing victory over – what he called – the Ukrainian Nazis and their American and European allies who are trying to endanger Russian national security,” columnist Sultan Ibrahim Khalaf wrote for Al-Rai daily.

“The word (Nazis) became a title for the official Russian media to rouse the feelings of the Russians and recall their heroism in defeating Nazism in World War II, as if the scenes of that war had returned again to haunt the Putin era, but with Ukrainian Nazis and not Germans, knowing that Ukraine is not ruled by a Nazi party and this is a fact everyone knows, the requirements of the war call for lying in order to mobilize the morale, so that Putin reveals that he uses the same method as the Nazi Minister of Propaganda (Goebbels) ‘Lie so that people believe you’.

“Putin used the same propaganda when he used his superior military power to destroy the Chechen capital, Grozny, and the Syrian cities on the heads of the Syrians in the name of fighting terrorism. The Americans and their allies, on the other hand, are also busy sympathizing with the Ukrainian refugees and reaching to their needs first-hand, obtaining support for them and supporting the Ukrainian army with advanced weapons to confront the Russian war machine, and exposing the crimes of the Russian army that targets housing, schools, hospitals and factories, but they do not refer to the war crimes committed by Putin in Chechnya and Syria, which far outweighs his crimes in Ukraine, because referring to them exposes their participation in those crimes and their standing by some Kurds, and their silence about his use of the internationally banned sarin gas to suffocate the Syrian people, killing hundreds of thousands and displacing millions of Syrians, the Syrian and Iranian regimes.

“Apart from the conflict in Ukraine, the position of the US administration in supporting the occupying Zionists in disrespecting international laws, and encouraging them to impose a settlement policy by force, use excessive force to suppress the Palestinians, encroach on the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and use the media to perpetuate lies and deceive people in favor of the Zionists, is also not hidden.

“The world today is confused in the classification of the Nazis. The Nazi is no longer just that German who fought under the leadership of Hitler. Rather, new Nazi ghosts have appeared, perhaps more dangerous than the German Nazis, because they possess thousands of nuclear weapons of mass destruction that were not in the possession of the Nazis, and they display their power before the world, and threaten to use these weapons in the event of an outbreak of a military confrontation between them.”

“The assassination of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh by the Zionist occupation forces yesterday was premeditated. It was aimed at silencing the voice of truth, burying free media and preventing the latter from revealing the truth about the horrific crimes committed by the occupying State against the steadfast, patient and resistant Palestinian people,” columnist Abdulrahman Al-Awad wrote for Al-Sabah daily.

“Director of Al-Jazeera television channel in Palestine Walid Al-Omari confirmed that the occupation forces ‘fired directly at Shireen Abu Aqleh. She got shot under the ear that was not covered by the helmet.’

“Most importantly, Al-Omari said the issue will be followed up at all levels and the occupiers will be prosecuted for the crime, especially since the shooting was not the result of armed clashes.

“Yes, Israel should not escape from its heinous crime, as it happens every time. We fully support the Palestinian government, particularly the announcement of its official spokesperson on rejecting the participation of the occupying power in the investigation of this crime. This is in addition to the intention to refer the case to the International Criminal Court in a bid to expose the Zionist entity in front of the whole world, punishing it for this crime, including the endless crimes against the Palestinian people.”

“1- Vaccination will be through nasal spray, instead of injection.

2- The treatment of blood pressure will be two injections over a long period, instead of daily medications in the form of pills and capsules several times a day,” columnist Dr Naji Al-Zaid wrote for Al-Jarida daily.

“3- Treating nervous system diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, memory loss, and others, will be done through a micro-device implanted in the brain and sends electrical waves to alert the damaged cells, relieve symptoms and provide treatment.

“4- Finding quick ways to treat corona, in addition to what is currently available.

“Other discoveries are in full swing in order to treat incurable diseases.

“All this happened during the period of the spread of corona — the virus that left many patients and victims. It also caused huge economic losses all over the world.

“We thank God that normal life has returned and the crisis has so far ended peacefully…”
