KKWF-KCYL hold EidUl Fitr blood donation drive
KUWAIT CITY, May 12: Kuwait Knanaya Cultural Association’s (KKCA) women wing; Kuwait Knanaya Women’s Forum (KKWF), its youth wing; Kuwait Catholic Youth League (KCYL) and Blood Donors Kerala Kuwait Chapter have conducted a joint blood donation drive at Adan Cooperative Blood Transfusion Center. The camp was conducted on May 3, 2022, from 01:00 pm till 06:00 pm. The camp, conducted on the occasion of EidUl-Fitr by KKCA team, also marked the debut appearance in social service of KKWF; their women’s wing organization, formed on March 25, 2022. The effective campaign run by the KKWF – KCYL team resulted in 120 donor registrations and 106 successful donations. The youngest donor, a 17-year old Chris Lonas Bino, donated the blood for the first time with the consent of his parents, was a noble moment in the blood donation drive and created ripples of excitement in the event.
The camp was formally inaugurated by Jayesh Onasheriyil, President of KKCA. In his inaugural speech, Jayesh stressed that more people shall come forward for voluntary blood donation as a permanent solution for the shortage for blood despite many blood donation camps happening now. He also expressed the necessity to instil awareness among the people to break the common myths surrounding blood donation. Shyni Joseph, the President of KKWF, in her chairperson’s address, expressed the sheer joy of being part of a lifesaving activity alongside BDK Kuwait Chapter. Bijo Malpankal (KKCA General Secretary), ShaluShaji (KCYL Chairman), JosekuttyPuthenthara (KKCA Treasurer), Mini Sabu (KKWF Treasurer) and Yamuna Reghubal BDK have felicitated the blood donors. SiniBinoj (KKWF General Secretary) BDK welcomed the gathering. Blood Donors Kerala Kuwait Chapter has presented mementos to KKWA, KKWF and KCYL representatives for exhibiting high spirit of social responsibility to promote the noble act of voluntary blood donation and for the successful conduct of the camp. Kuwait Central Blood Bank and BDK Kuwait were honoured with a souvenir, by KKWF-KCYL Team, in recognition of their dedicated community services by organising blood donation camps regularly for safe and sustainable blood supply in Kuwait.
Certificates were presented to all the blood donors who attended the camp. The blood donation drive was supported by BDK Kuwait Chapter’s corporate partner BEC Exchange, Badr Al Samaa Medical Center, Bosco Group, Biryani Tower, Spencers and Dillu Store. Surendra Mohan BDK presented a vote of thanks to the guests and blood donors. BDK event coordinator Nimish Kavalam and KKWF’s MinnaTibin coordinated the event.
BDK volunteers Thomas Adoor, Venugopal, Manoj Mavelikkara, Liny Joy, JayanSadasivan, Jithin Jose, BijiMurali, Nalinakshan, Vinoth, Jolly, Beena, Prasanth, Jayesh Jayachandran, Reji Achenkunju along with KKWF – KCYL volunteers Bino Kadalikkatt, Anish M Jose, Maya Reji, JeenaJosekutty, Saiju George, Jan Jose have offered voluntary service for the successful execution of the camp.
