Athletics main attraction of the 3rd Gulf Games in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, May 12, (KUNA): A number of Kuwaiti officials affirmed Thursday that the athletics competitio­n would be the main attraction of the Third Gulf Games, scheduled tomorrow Friday until May 31st.

Speaking to the press, head of the Kuwait Athletics Associatio­n Sayer Al-Enizi said that the women’s competitio­n would begin tomorrow and will last for three days, while the men’s competitio­n kick-start next Monday.

He indicated that 100 judges would oversee the athletics competitio­n, adding that the Kuwaiti team was fully prepared to face their peers from other GCC countries.

On her part, head of the women’s committee at the associatio­n and manager of the Kuwaiti female athletics team Hanan AlHardan revealed that 24 female athletes were partaking in the competitio­n, noting that players had been preparing for the Games since February.

She affirmed that Kuwaiti female athletes were in high spirits, hoping that they would ascend the winners’ podium during competitio­n.

The Third Gulf Games will kick off Friday in Kuwait with the participat­ion of 1,700 athletes.

The Gulf Games will include 16 competitio­ns held in 12 locations for both male and female athletes including football, handball, Karate, judo and other sports.
