PAM reviews classification of firms
KUWAIT CITY, May 15: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has formed a special committee to review the classification of companies. This committee will study the grievance letters submitted to PAM by companies listed in the three classifications to determine their eligibility to raise their classification to the highest category, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources from PAM.
They explained that there are three classifications that were previously set by the authority for companies, according to which each company obtains different facilities.
Business owners of the first category obtain work permits according to the full assessment of the need. This category includes, for example, companies that are wholly owned by the government or to which it contributes at least 25 percent, hospitals, dispensaries, medical centers, medical clinics, banks, insurance companies, investment companies, hotels, newspapers and other businesses.
As for business owners of the second category, they obtain work permits for 25 percent of the total number of workers estimated to be licensed. They include companies listed on the Stock Exchange, companies classified in the Central Agency for Public Tenders in the first, second and third categories, owners of commercial agencies, closed joint stock companies and holding companies.
As for business owners who are not mentioned in the first and second categories, they obtain work permits that do not exceed 25 percent, with a maximum of four work permits only.
