‘Gulf Journal of Oncology published 478 research papers over 15 years’
KUWAIT CITY, May 15: The General Secretariat of the Gulf Union for Cancer Control reviewed a number of researches related to the disease, which were published in the Gulf Journal of Oncology over the past fifteen years, reports Al-Qabas daily.
During a press conference held by the secretariat to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the journal’s issuance, in the presence of a number of members of the Union, the Secretary-General of the Union, the magazine’s founder and editor-inchief, Dr Khaled Al-Saleh stated 478 research papers were published by the Journal, pointing out that the number of countries that presented their scientific researches related to cancer was 35.
Dr Al-Saleh added the magazine has obtained the international classification as a reference journal in the US National Register of PubMed and Medline since January 2009, and is now considered a reference in scientific research related to cancer in the Middle East.
He stated that the magazine is based in Kuwait, and it has 80 arbitrators in a number of countries, indicating that it is the main source of encouragement for researchers in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, who publishes their distinguished research and receives the acceptance of arbitrators. He put the number of published researches at about 50 per year, noting that the journal receives more than 150 research papers each year from all countries of the world.
Dr Al-Saleh pointed out that these
researches are arbitrated and 50% of them are accepted with a distinguished level, and that the waiting period for publication ranges between 6 months to a year, and the General Secretariat of the Union issues 3 issues of this magazine every year.
He stated the research journal is published on the website of the Gulf Union for Cancer Control www. gffcc.org, and researchers can submit their research electronically.
Dr Al-Saleh thanked the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences for its distinguished support for the magazine, as well as the National Cancer Awareness Campaign “Kan” for its technical support to the magazine, and to all associations in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and members of the Gulf Union for Cancer Control, for their continued support for this magazine.
