Order sutures open wound of overseas treatment
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 8: The Ministry of Health has received strict instructions from the Council of Ministers, not to receive any transactions or requests from MPs or their delegates regarding treatment abroad or other health sectors, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The sources indicated that the ministry immediately translated these government directives, and it was circulated to the Overseas Treatment Department and other departments to permanently get rid of intermediaries and whoever violates these instructions will be taken to task.
In this context, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Mustafa Reda, has issued a circular stating that the specialized committees for treatment abroad are to be held in public hospitals and specialized medical centers, starting next Wednesday for one month, for emergency and urgent cases, for which the treating medical team decides whether the treatment is available in one of the facilities of the Ministry of Health in Kuwait or not.
According to the circular addressed to the assistant undersecretaries in the ministry, directors of health districts, director of the Overseas Treatment Department and hospital directors, the head of the treating department must submit a request complete with a detailed report to the head of the medical authority to conduct an urgent specialized committee for that case, and then submit it to the Higher Committee of the Overseas Treatment Department.
The Ministry of Health has vehemently denied rumors that Minister Khaled Al-Saeed met a former lawmaker last Wednesday and signed overseas treatment applications for the latter, reports Al-Jarida daily.
Stressing that the minister is keen on complying with the directives of the Council of Ministers, the ministry clarified that Al-Saeed had a meeting with the Council of Assistant Undersecretaries to inform them about the directives issued by the Council of Ministers.
