Commerce issues circular on inspectors’ job requirements

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 8: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a circular to its inspectors in the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection sector. The circular contained many items, including the need to adhere to the requirements of their job duties, the commitment of the commercial inspector not to disclose the secrets of the profession or the secrets of violations to those who are not concerned with them, the prohibition of inspection during non-official working hours without prior permission from the administrative official, and the prohibition of inspection in areas that are not under their jurisdiction except with the prior permission of the administrative area official and the direct official, reports Al-Anba daily quoting an official source from the ministry.

According to what was stated in the circular, it is forbidden to withdraw samples or seize goods without an official document in the hands of the violator.

It is forbidden to open or close a shop without an official form prepared for this.

It is forbidden to search through personal belongings unless there is a suspicion of a witnessed crime.

It is forbidden to enter shops, stores, factories, or the like, except during their official working hours and in the presence of those responsible.

It is forbidden to issue a violation unless there is a legal reference to it or a ministerial decision.

It is forbidden to open shops or similar places by force or open safes and closed places except by the person concerned or by order of the Attorney General and in the presence of police to implement the order of the prosecution.

It is forbidden to smoke, eat or drink inside establishments upon inspection.
