MEW power supply: The Ministry of Electricity and Water says it will take approximately four years to deliver power supply to allow the construction in residential plots in south of Khaitan, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Electricity Distribution Networks, Saad Al-Rashidi, said in a letter addressed to the Municipality that the ministry needs four years to build the main power transmitter after receiving the location and the feeding paths from the competent authority, free of obstacles, as well as after providing the budget item to complete works.

Al-Rashidi added that the main transfer station in the region was included in the budget for 2022/2023 but awaits approval, so the project has now been included in the 2023/2024 budget, and after adopting the current item, the ministry needs a year-long to float the tender, and a twoyear work implementation period, noting that the architectural plans of the station will be provided to the municipality later after signing the contract.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Electricity and Water requested the municipality to allocate a site for the construction of a building in the Farwaniya Governorate to serve the citizens, on an area of 1,000 square meters.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services and Major Concerns said that the building will comprise electrical distribution networks, water operation and maintenance, and accounts management, noting that the number of employees exceeds 300, and to receive about 200 visitors on a daily basis.

Al-Rashidi stressed that the allocation of the site is one of the vital projects that fall within the ministry’s development plan, as the project aims to meet all the needs of citizens in an easier and faster way.
