Kuwait University student falls to death, suicide not ruled out

40 kilos of hashish, 150,000 Captagon pills seized

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 13: The Kuwait University announced the death of a student who allegedly fell from the second floor of a university campus in Sabah Al-Salem University City (Shaddadiah), reports AlQabas daily.

The university said in a statement that the university’s medical teams took all measures to rescue her, and preliminar­y investigat­ions indicated that suicide cannot be ruled out. She was reportedly rushed to the Ministry of Health hospital and was proclaimed dead.

Informed sources told the daily attempts to rescue the 19-year-old female student and discourage her from committing suicide were unsuccessf­ul, as the students who were present at the site tried to prevent her from jumping, but she jumped from the second floor.

The Director of Kuwait University, Dr. Youssef Al-Roumi, on behalf of the university family, offered his sincere condolence­s and sympathy to the student’s family, asking God Almighty to bless the soul of the deceased with his mercy, and to inspire her family and relatives to bear the loss with patience and solace.

In this context, Dr. Shamlan Al-Qena’i, the head of the university’s faculty members’ associatio­n, called for the necessity of having a fully equipped temporary field hospital, ambulances, and even an air ambulance inside the Shaddiyah campus.

Drugs seized, 3 arrested: The General Administra­tion for Drug Control of the Criminal Security Sector arrested a threeman gang for attempting to smuggle into the country 40 kilos of hashish, 150,000 Captagon pills, a firearm and ammunition, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior expressed his appreciati­on for the continuous efforts in combating the scourge of drugs, and stressed that more effort should be made to confront this systematic war until this phenomena is eliminated from our midst.

The accused have been referred to the competent authoritie­s.

3 containers stolen from US camp: Al-Rai learned from a security source that it has registered a case of theft of three containers from the US Army’s shooting camp in the AlAdaira’a area of Abdali.
