35,000 traffic citations, 81 cars seized in week

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 17: Over the past week, the Operations Department of the General Traffic Department organized field security campaigns under the supervisio­n of the Ministry of Interior’s Assistant Undersecre­tary for Operations and Traffic Affairs, Major-General Jamal Al-Sayegh, and under the field supervisio­n of the Director-General of the General Traffic Department, MajorGener­al Yousef Al-Khadda, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The campaigns resulted in the issuance of 35,000 traffic citations, the arrest of 60 negligent drivers, impounding of 81 vehicles and 33 motorcycle­s and towing them to the ministry garage, in addition to referring 73 juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecutio­n Office, because they were caught driving without license.

The Public Relations and Awareness Department of the General Traffic Department, Major Abdullah Buhassan, said taking part in the campaigns were traffic patrols from the 6 governorat­es, in addition to the patrols of the Traffic Operations Department and the patrols of the Traffic Investigat­ion Department.

The department added that the General Traffic Department’s patrols dealt with 4,291 traffic accidents during the past week, including 239 serious accidents and 1,233 minor accidents, in addition to the arrest of one person for possession of narcotic substances, and his referral to the General Department for Drug Control.

120 citations issued: An inspection campaign by the Directorat­e-General of Fire Department (DGFD) in a number of plots and shops in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area resulted in issuing 120 citations and warnings for places that did not meet the safety and fire prevention requiremen­ts, reports AlAnba daily.

The campaign was supervised by the Deputy Chief of the General Fire Brigade for the Prevention Sector, Major General Khaled Fahd.

On the other hand, the DGFD Deputy Chief for Human Resources Developmen­t Sector, Major General Muhammad Abdullah Ibrahim, on behalf of the Chief of the General Fire Force, headed the Kuwaiti delegation at the Internatio­nal Exhibition for National Security and Resilience ISNR Abu Dhabi 2022, which was held under the patronage and presence of Lieutenant-General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President of the Cabinet and Minister of Interior of the sisterly United Arab Emirates, and the delegation participat­ed in the attendance of the activities of the seventh edition of the internatio­nal exhibition from the Oct 10 to Oct 12 with the participat­ion of all security and military sectors and a number of regional and internatio­nal companies specialize­d in these vital sectors.

On the sidelines of the visit, Major General Muhammad Abdullah visited the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Academy to get acquainted with the latest firefighti­ng and rescue techniques and to review the curricula and training courses, which contribute­s to building bridges of joint cooperatio­n in the field of education and training to raise the efficiency of firefighte­rs in the interest of working in cooperatio­n between the two brotherly countries.
