Even truffles have a name ... they are not called bedoun

- – Compiled by Ahmed Al-Shazli

“THE Central Agency for Remedying Illegal Residents’ Status and its head, Mr. Saleh Al-Fadhalah are subjected to a fierce campaign on most social media, especially Twitter, Clubhouse and other networks,” columnist Iqbal AlAhmad wrote for Al-Qabas daily.

“I was wondering before the government officially announced its full support for the Agency: Is it reasonable that our esteemed government did not think of allocating an authority to amend the information and respond to any fabrications with established facts and documented information?

“What is even more surprising is that the role of specialized parties that have experience with convincing information to respond to the false and inaccurate information that is being supplied, left the arena filled with loud voices mixed with whispers, slurs, insults and even threats.

“In the absence of correct information from its reliable source, some who have non-national goals inside, and outside Kuwait took advantages and raised their voices without any explanations of everything that Kuwait has provided and is offering to this category, whose case has been long chewed, and how Kuwait has provided them with the basics to live a decent life.

“One of those who participated in the design of the official website of the Human Rights Bureau conducted indepth research on human rights institutions in the world, and opinions on Kuwait in this field.

“What he found was shocking – many websites and reports of human rights institutions and organizations denouncing Kuwait’s inhumane and unfair policy against the group that defines itself as bedoun and expatriates, as well, but in an exaggerated manner, and some of them have nothing to do with the reality while there was no specialized party defending Kuwait with facts and not any questionable information.

“He added that there are groups of illegal residents who have taken refuge in other countries, the most important of which is the United Kingdom, where they have established centers that work only against Kuwait, describing it as arbitrary and other unworthy characteristics.

“The Anti-Rumors Team which is affiliated to the Kuwait Information Security Society was established, and the team found that most of the tweets in Twitter accounts about the issue of illegal residents are not real, and they are nothing but bots (software that publishes tweets automatically and without interference) to increase the percentage of readers, as if expressing the resentment of most of them, and in fact, they are nothing but unreal tweets.

“During the work of the team in combating rumors, it was noticed that most of the owners of electronic newspapers appear to be from the category of illegal residents (those who insist on calling them bedoun, and they use these newspapers to spread rumors that harm Kuwait’s reputation, strike national unity, and they deliberately raise topics that tarnish the image of Kuwait.

“Although there are too many complaints and cases against these newspapers, some of which are unlicensed, unfortunately, and because of what are being raised about interference from various political parties, these charges, complaints and violations are bypassed.

“For your knowledge, most of the international reports depend on their evaluation on what is presented in social media networks and websites, which unfortunately are not written transparently and with non-Kuwaiti and non-objective pens.

“Oh our esteemed government; didn’t all this information shake you to decide to assign a party to undertake the issue, I do not say to defend Kuwait, to reveal the truth and nothing else?

Oh people of Kuwait, where are you and what is happening on the scene, and what some from inside and outside the National Assembly are doing against the homeland? We did not hear your voice.

“Even plants that emerge from the ground without roots, such as truffles, are not called ‘bedoun’ plants. How do you want to convince us of the name ‘bedoun’?

“There is no human being on earth without origin or without roots. They are not born without a father, grandfather and uncle and a place as well.”

Also:

“At first he thought and believed, then he hinted, then he indicated, then he said shyly, then he stated, then he decided, then he affirmed, then he asserted, then he swore and swore by God that the reason for the backwardness in Kuwait is administration, then administration, then administration, then administration,” columnist Dr Muhammad Al-Duwaihis wrote for Al-Shahed daily.

“Later he collapsed, fell silent, and remained silent for a long time, until he became dumb. This is the case of the knowledgeable, scholar and administrative expert in the state of administrative development and human development and the center of humanitarian work and the state of the financial and commercial center.

“And the smart, wise, and wise men read between the lines. The same is the case with sane, wise states and governments with clear insight and strategic vision: there are those who are quite the opposite at the level of individuals and at the level of states and governments.

“We wonder if there is anything in it for us. We want individuals, managers, administrative leaders, and governments to “understand us,” and then we ask stupidly ‘Is there something that happened?’

“Some managers, politicians, and some governments came at the wrong time. These managers and governments were served by the circumstances, the ill-wishers, and an army of climbers and the “owners of the back rows,” who had little role in their scientific, practical, social, or even family life. In fact, the saying “the bodies of mules and the dreams of birds” applies to them.

“Qatar achieved huge success when it won the hosting of the 2022 World Cup for the first time in the Middle East on the basis that it represents the Arab world,” columnist Sultan Al-Khalaf wrote for Al-Rai daily.

“Joseph Blatter, the FIFA president then, supported the idea and officially announced it on Dec 2, 2010.

“The attempts of some, who did not understand the selection of Qatar as host for the World Cup, to withdraw the decision failed. Nevertheless, they took issues on human rights, workers’ rights and gay rights as a starting point for distorting the sporting event and insulting Qatar.

“Qatar did well when it decided not to allow any manifestation of sympathy for homosexuals in stadiums. It was a strong direct message to England’s captain — Harry Kane — to prevent him from wearing a badge showing support for gays.

“Qatar also took a decision to prevent the provision of alcoholic beverages in the vicinity of the stadiums, as most European countries are accustomed to that. It was a correct decision, but some tried to consider this a shameful matter deviating from the global sporting event.”

“The joy that the Saudi national team brought when it defeated the Argentine national team with two goals to one in the World Cup being held in the sisterly country Qatar deserves praise, happiness and pride for the brotherly team,” columnist Abdulrahman Al-Awad wrote for Al-Sabah daily.

“Frankly, defeating such a huge team of distinguished athletes, including the famous and legendary Messi, gives us hope in terms of seeing Arab teams in the final rounds of the tournament soon.

“Why not? The Saudi national team did it. The team played for 90 minutes as there was more than one match with the Argentine national team. It conveyed a message that Al-Akhdar is coming and everyone should beware of what comes next.

“We can dream of defeating such a strong team, considering the Saudi green raised its head, defeated one of the strongest teams, and even showed a strong and honorable performance throughout the match.

“We congratulate the brotherly Saudi national team and the beloved Saudi people for this great victory. We wish them the best in the upcoming matches.”
