Bid to expand IICO, UN partnershi­p

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 23, (KUNA): A workshop held by the Internatio­nal Islamic Charitable Organizati­on (IICO) with United Nations agencies and funds recommende­d investing and expanding the partnershi­p between the two sides to include initiative­s and activities for knowledge transfer and preparing programs for capacity building of cadres and institutio­nal developmen­t for the authority, local bodies and internatio­nal partners.

The authority said in a press statement on Wednesday that this workshop came in coordinati­on with the United Nations Office for the Coordinati­on of Humanitari­an Affairs (OCHA) and aims to strengthen the work mechanism between the authority and United Nations agencies.

It explained that the workshop discussed the general policies and procedures regulating partnershi­ps and cooperatio­n between the two sides and ways to develop them.

The statement added that officials from the relevant department­s of the authority and relevant internatio­nal organizati­ons, led by the United Nations Office for the Coordinati­on of Humanitari­an Affairs, Habitat, UNRWA, UNICEF and others participat­ed in the workshop.
