Speaker invites MPs, govt for two sessions

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 26: National Assembly Speaker Ahmad Al-Sa’adoun has invited the MPs and government to the ordinary sessions slated for Nov 29-30, 2022.

The agenda includes voting on the minutes of the sessions held on Nov 15-16; incoming letters; petitions; MPs’ questions for the ministers; grilling motion of MP Hamdan Al-Azmi against Minister of Public Works, Electricit­y and Water Amani Bugamaz on the conflict of interests issue; continuati­on of the MPs’ response to the Amiri speech during the inaugural session of the legislatur­e; reports of the Budgets and Final Accounts Committee on the final accounts of independen­t and subsidiary institutio­ns for fiscals 2018/2019 and 2019/2020; MPs’ proposals including that of MP Abdulkaree­m Al-Kandari on the nationaliz­ation of all jobs in the public sector; and the request signed by a number of MPs for the Constituti­onal Court to clarify articles 87, 90, 104 and 106 of the Constituti­on.

Meanwhile, MP Hamad Al-Matar intends to submit a bill on amending law number 71/2020 to ensure balance between protecting the rights of creditors without the need to arrest or imprison debtors for non-payment of loans. He urged the citizens to submit their ideas or opinions about his plan to include them in the bill.

On the other hand, MP Obaid Al-Wasmi disclosed that the demands presented to HH the former Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid have also been submitted to the incumbent -- HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He stressed that there will neither be imposition of tax nor increasing fees for public services until the stolen public funds are recovered and those involved are punished. He added it is unacceptab­le that the government forces citizens to pay the price of for the crimes committed by a few corrupt individual­s.
