-

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 27: According to informed sources, the privatization file is close to the implementation phase, which constitutes a clear response to the requirements of correcting the economic path by increasing the participation of the private sector in achieving the state’s development goals, reports Al-Rai daily.

The sources explained that there is a government tendency to privatize the postal sector and the fiber network. A study is being prepared by the concerned authorities in this regard, and the necessary technical conditions are being completed. As soon as the comprehensive study regarding the privatization of the two sectors is completed, it will be submitted to the Council of Ministers to take the necessary action in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education is currently operating with half of its officials as the services of the other half have been terminated; including four assistant undersecretaries out of eight – private education, facilities, curricula and legal, in addition to Undersecretary Dr Ali Al-Yaqoub who submitted his resignation, reports Al-Anba daily.

Also, three educational districts have no directors – Jahra, Farwaniya and Hawally; as well as the Department of Special Education, and other supervisory positions.

In this context, educational sources revealed that the administrative vacuum in the ministry needs an urgent resolution; especially since it is different from other ministries. Sources pointed out that the number of employees in the ministry is about 130,000; including teachers and administrators. Sources said the educational system needs round the clock monitoring, since it is responsible for educating more than half a million students.
