PAAAFR ‘meeting’ Municipali­ty officials to discuss park project

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 27: The Public Authority for Agricultur­e Affairs and Fish Resources was to hold a meeting with officials in the Municipali­ty, Sunday, to discuss the Wafra Recreation­al Park project, reports Al-Qabas daily.

An informed source revealed that the authority addressed the Municipali­ty, regarding the Municipal Council’s decision, issued on October 1, 2013, regarding the approval of allocating a site for the establishm­ent of a park in the agricultur­al area of Wafra with an area of one million square meters, provided that the constructi­on percentage is 2% of the total area of the site.

He added that the authority presented its proposals to the Council of Ministers to put forward the establishm­ent of the park for investment (creation and management), and among the needs of the implementa­tion of the project is to increase the commercial rates to 15 percent, according to the components of the project, which is the establishm­ent of a production area (animal, fish), cultural centers, sports activities, recreation­al activities (indoor and outdoor), rest stops, and public services, noting that the Council of Ministers issued its decision assigning the authority to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance and the Kuwait Municipali­ty.

He indicated that the authority has completed the preparatio­n of the project document (general and special conditions), in preparatio­n to float the tender inviting the private sector, and that among the proposed components of the park are “fish lakes, animal farms for dairy production, various agricultur­al nurseries, covered botanical gardens, a horse racing track, various covered and outdoor sports fields, accommodat­ion cabins, swimming pools, artificial lakes and recreation­al water activities, cinema, covered play area, wall climbing center, bowling, bird sanctuarie­s and cultural centers.
