PAAAFR ‘meeting’ Municipality officials to discuss park project

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 27: The Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources was to hold a meeting with officials in the Municipality, Sunday, to discuss the Wafra Recreational Park project, reports Al-Qabas daily.

An informed source revealed that the authority addressed the Municipality, regarding the Municipal Council’s decision, issued on October 1, 2013, regarding the approval of allocating a site for the establishment of a park in the agricultural area of Wafra with an area of one million square meters, provided that the construction percentage is 2% of the total area of the site.

He added that the authority presented its proposals to the Council of Ministers to put forward the establishment of the park for investment (creation and management), and among the needs of the implementation of the project is to increase the commercial rates to 15 percent, according to the components of the project, which is the establishment of a production area (animal, fish), cultural centers, sports activities, recreational activities (indoor and outdoor), rest stops, and public services, noting that the Council of Ministers issued its decision assigning the authority to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance and the Kuwait Municipality.

He indicated that the authority has completed the preparation of the project document (general and special conditions), in preparation to float the tender inviting the private sector, and that among the proposed components of the park are “fish lakes, animal farms for dairy production, various agricultural nurseries, covered botanical gardens, a horse racing track, various covered and outdoor sports fields, accommodation cabins, swimming pools, artificial lakes and recreational water activities, cinema, covered play area, wall climbing center, bowling, bird sanctuaries and cultural centers.
