Hawalli – integrated healthy city

KUWAIT CITY, March 8, (KUNA): Hawalli Governor Ali Al-Asfar signed Wednesday a form that registers the governorat­e as an integrated healthy city and meets demands of healthy cities in all areas in the future, as part of efforts to register healthy cities in Kuwait.

In a statement, Al-Asfar, who is also acting governor of Al Asimah Governorat­e, said Hawalli City suffered pressure on infrastruc­ture due to overpopula­tion that negatively affected environmen­t surroundin­g its citizens.

He stressed the need of efforts of all to implement all requiremen­ts to turn Hawalli Governorat­e into a healthy city in the future.

Meanwhile, head of healthy cities’ office at the Ministry of Health Dr. Amal Al-Yahya said it is an important step in the country to turn Hawalli into a healthy city.

She indicated that that Hawalli is the first city that sought to be designated by the World Health Organizati­on (WHO) as an accredited healthy city.

Al-Asfar submitted a request last August to the ministry on Hawalli joining the list of healthy cities.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance announced Tuesday that it would take back the possession of Friday (Al-Juma) Market from the leasing company as the contract had expired on March 1, 2023.

In a press statement, the ministry said that the State Property Department is keen on continuing the market activities and receiving its visitors from citizens and residents as soon as possible as it is considered a popular market of a special nature.

It noted that the State Property Department is currently completing the market regaining and re-operating procedures.

❑ ❑ ❑ Salaries before Ramadan:

The concerned authoritie­s are coordinati­ng their efforts to deposit the salaries of State employees before the holy month of Ramadan, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.

According to sources, work is underway to deposit the salaries of employees in ministries, government agencies and institutio­ns before the holy month.

Other sources said the salaries will be deposited starting from March 19 until March 26 at the latest.
