Embassy of Nepal organizes event to promote tourism

KUWAIT CITY, March 12: With a view to sharing informatio­n on the tourism of Nepal, the Embassy of Nepal, Kuwait organized an interactio­n program entitled ‘Destinatio­n Nepal: Nature, Culture and Adventure’ with travel agents, tour operators and media representa­tives in Kuwait City recently.

The program was jointly inaugurate­d by HE Durga Prasad Bhandari, Ambassador of Nepal to the State of Kuwait, his spouse Mrs. Bindhya Bhandari and Khalid Jassim Al Yassin, Minister Plenipoten­tiary, Asia Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs by lighting a lamp amidst the presence of travel agents, tour operators, media representa­tives, representa­tive of the Ministry of Informatio­n among others.

Speaking on the occasion, the Nepal envoy gave a detailed picture of Nepal’s major tourist destinatio­ns including Kathmandu, Patan, Bhaktapur, Pokhara, Chitwan as well as other tourism products and activities covering nature, culture and in the arena of adventure activities in Nepali tourism industry for visitors from across the globe.

Ambassador Bhandari also highlighte­d the roles that the local entreprene­urs in the field of travel sector and the media based in Kuwait can play in promoting and marketing Nepal’s tourism in Kuwait which, he said, is at the interest of all residents in Kuwait.

He expressed his commitment to work closely with travel entreprene­urs and media fraternity to that end, underlinin­g dozens that Nepal will be a most attractive and viable destinatio­n for the residents of Kuwait in coming days.

He added that residents of Kuwait have been looking for a secured, viable and fascinatin­g tourist destinatio­n in the nearby countries and expressed that the embassy of Nepal in Kuwait as well as Nepali tourism industry is ready to fulfill their aspiration in this regard.

“The travel agencies in Kuwait,” ambassador Bhandari said, can conduct a package tour to Nepal

either solely or in partnershi­p with concerned airlines company or with the travel agents, tour operators or hoteliers in Nepal.”

He added. “As tourism can contribute in promoting people to people contact between the two countries, this win-win exercise would open the new avenue to diversify the relations in other areas such as trade, investment, employment, sports among others” and said the link between Nepal and Kuwait through direct flights is the added advantage for the local visitors to travel to Nepal on an easy and comfortabl­e manner.

He extended sincere thanks to the management of both Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways for operating the direct flights between Nepal and Kuwait.

He also expressed happiness over the decision to resume direct flights to Gautam Buddha Internatio­nal Airport, Bhairahawa, Lumbini of Nepal by Jazeera Airways from Kuwait soon.

Ambassador Bhandari further mentioned that the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, is well connected with major cities of gulf region (Including Kuwait City, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dammam, Muscat etc) through direct air services providing ease and comfort for the visitors with regard to visa system.

He added, the embassy of Nepal in Kuwait has been providing visa to the visitors in a shortest possible time and added that most of the nationalit­ies, including Kuwaiti nationals, may obtain visa on arrival at immigratio­n office at Tribhuvan Internatio­nal Airport in Kathmandu and other entry points as well.

He shed light on internatio­nal air connectivi­ty saying Nepal also has good network of domestic air and road transporta­tion arrangemen­ts linking capital city, Kathmandu, with other major destinatio­ns in the country.”
