Arab Info Ministers meet in Kuwait under AL umbrella

KUWAIT CITY, March 12: The Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Informatio­n, headed by Iraq, in the presence of representa­tives of organizati­ons and federation­s meets in Kuwait under the umbrella of the Arab League which will continue until March 16, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The spokeswoma­n for the Ministry of Informatio­n, Anwar Murad, said that these meetings come within the scope of following up the implementa­tion of the decisions issued by the Council of Arab Ministers of Informatio­n during the 52nd regular session, which was held in September 2022 in Cairo.

She said the meetings give Arab media work more vitality and interactio­n in support of Arab issues at different levels. She added that the meetings will address many issues of concern to the Arab media, especially in light of global events and developmen­ts and the parallel current of the sweeping means of communicat­ion, with its social and ethical challenges that require reaching a targeted media strategy commensura­te with the size of the risks facing our Arab countries, and in a way that helps to unify visions to reach a higher level of credibilit­y for Arab media policies and confidence in their capabiliti­es.

During the meetings, the Standing Committee for Arab Media will hold its 98th session and the 24th meeting of the Permanent Group of Experts concerned with following up the role of media in confrontin­g the phenomenon of terrorism.

Murad indicated that the meetings will discuss a number of organizati­onal issues, including the Media Excellence Award for the year 2023 dedicated to the topic of environmen­tal media under the slogan “Climate Change and the Future”, sponsored by Kuwait.

She stated that at the end of the meetings of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Informatio­n, which will coincide with the activities of the Qurain Cultural Festival in its 28th session, a huge theatrical show entitled “Sidrat Al-Pearl” will be presented, documentin­g the important historical events of Kuwait over the ages, and were recorded by a group of researcher­s and travelers and Arab and internatio­nal historians with a dramatic, lyrical, historical vision.
